Great video, was looking forward to this one as I’m thinking of picking up one of these pack rafts, you didn’t really talk much about the pack raft itself but I’ve seen from the comments that you are doing a separate review video, so I’ll be looking forward to that. This is right near where I work (or at least where I would work if not for WFH)! Lovely bit of river along there, Millmead Lock is a very popular spot. I love seeing videos around this local area, it’s spurring me on to get my own kayak and get out there!

Drop into the river at Tilford just below the weir, Walk out from Guilford along the pilgrims way then drop down to Tilford camp out for the night at the campsite opposite to the track that leads to Stockbridge pond and cruise down the river following day.

Nice video mate, I bought the same packraft today and am so excited to test it tomorrow. I'm used to kayaking so I know the speed and handling will disappoint a bit, but with 2 Kilograms and much more freedom with logistic issues, this is going to be great fun. Cheers Eckie

Cracking video and what a great little adventure. Thank you for sharing these hidden gems on our doorstep. Last year I paddled the Woking Palace backwater behind a family of swans and the male was waiting in ambush round every corner. They are quite intimidating when they want to be so I'm cautious like you. Love the packraft option but looking at the price it might need to wait a while. Cheers

Thank you Stevie, your videos are always very healing and rewarding every time I watch them! Finally a Packraft review video, thank you so much! It's fun every time I go on a tour with you via video~What's your idea of the traction in this Packraft without the tail fin? Does it tend to spin around?

Thanks so much. Without the fin it's actually fine because it's so short. It handles more like a whitewater kayak than a touring kayak. It does spin around really fast and takes a bit of work to keep straight, but the responsive turning can actually be an advantage. Ther are some rivers I'd prefer to do in a kayak, and some I'd prefer to do in the packraft. And there are some places I could only get to with a packraft

Just did Burpham to St Catherine’s and back yesterday, a great bit of river. I did float from the wear to Burpham on a tractor inactive as a 10year old, mum dropped us in town then picked us up from the the lack at Burpham. In those day we had to walk to a phone box to let her know we were there 😂 If you are doing the Wey again for please and you fancy some company, let me know and I will bring some camera gear to.

I really enjoyed this, and was considering buying this..... until I saw it is 400 quid. I haven't got that to splash. 😕 I actually bicycle hammock camped on the bank of that offshoot near Shalford last July. I thought Id picked a really quiet spot that nobody would find. But dog walkers came at 9.00 pm, then more at 7.00 am. They gave me some real unhappy stares. Oh well. I couldn't leave quick enough. Shame as its a really pretty spot there, as you now know 👍

@@StevieWyatt It was actually quiet there along that offshoot all late afternoon and evening, except for the dog walkers last thing at night and first thing in the morning. I won't go back wild camping there 😂

Hi, just wondering if you have maybe any plan's, and or thought's, of trying out the itiwit 500 pack raft, in any future videos you make, might be interesting comparing them, the 100 and the 500, or, maybe trying out against different makes of packraft. Thanks Rich. It's very different to paddling a kayak, very rudimentary and lots of corrections, but it turns super easy so you get the hang of it pretty quickly. It's fun! Got a pretty in depth review video on the way, plus talking about packrafting in general compared to other types of paddling

hello Stevie, thanks for your video! I love your reviews. I'd like to take a packraft but also make it more stable for sea environment. As I see it the biggest trouble in sea is the lack of fins. What do you think about adding fins to the packraft? Do you have any suggestions on how, or products?

I am a bit skeptical about using packrafts in the sea for a few reasons. Firstly the fins would only really help with tracking straight rather than stability, but it's such a short boat I don't think fins would actually make that much of a difference. As for stability, being a wide flat bottomed boat makes it great for rivers and lakes, but once you get waves a couple of feet high or above, flat bottomed craft can capsize easily (which is why sea kayaks have rounded hulls). Packrafts are also more vulnerable to wind and currents than other types of boat, again this usually fine for sheltered waters such as rivers and lakes but it open water would be a real challenge. A one man inflatable kayak would be better for a mix of river and sea use. It would be a bit heavier to carry, but safer on the coast.

Thanks! It's not too bad getting in and out. I have half in the water and half on the bank, then kind of slide in. Not very graceful, but it works!

What are your thoughts on the rucksack wearing it all day? I am probably going to buy one or 2 for use on my kayak but will also need to wear them as backpacks occasionally.

I love it, I do exactly the same - mainly for use on my X500 Kayak but it's also become my day hiking backpack and camera bag because it's tough and watertight. You know what it's like in the UK, it's always wet and damp whenever you go in the outdoors! I might do a review of the bag actually now you mention it.
