"a 2 hour drive from christchurch on reasonably good roads" ... well they must have upgraded it since I visited in 2018 because I remember the rd to Mt Sunday being a fairly dodgy dirt road (mainly the final section was a bit dodge) where you had to ford streams (something I cannot ever remember doing once in all my travels around Aus... although granted i've never been to Cape York or the NT - I've heard some roads up there become impassable in wet season). Also not the best signage so I was kind of relying soley on GPS. I will say it's super green in your video. They must have had a lot of rain (you did say snow on the mtns too). When I visited in autumn it was a lot drier, grass was yellow - like in the movie.

@@joemacleod-iredale2888 Actually man a bit of disappointment on that front. I spoke to both Gwahir and Thorondor's agent last week, and apparently there's been a lot of push back about all of their dialogue getting cut from the hobbit, so they're not super keen on being involved in Middle Earth related stuff in the future.

2:21 That shot of Bernard Hill soaking up the rays by the gates of Edoras is lovely. Modelling in high wind 😄 Apparently, you don't tend to get grass between the ruts of horse-drawn carts, as, on single horse carts, the horse walks on the bit of road inside the ruts.

Looking absolutely amazing. GW plastic terrain is great, but there is nothing quite like handmade stuff! And sorry for being the "well, akshually" guy, but the roads with high grass on the middle and wheel marks on each side are a modern thing made by modern cars. Cart wheels in the goode olde times would definetely leave their marks on the road, but so would the horses pulling the cart, which would trample the grass in the middle :)

bro!, you need your PHD to sit next to your titleship, with you knowledge of lord of the rings, you should have a PHD in Tolkien Lore, Dr. Zorpazorp sounds so much better to me but still be an understatement for you knowledge and skills. keep up the awesome work. INSANE!!!
