HIKING AND EXPERIENCING THE PACIFIC CREST TRAIL / PCT DOCUMENTARY

Hi, I'm Sebastian and I want to share with you my experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail! I've decided to hike the PCT in 2020 and I picked this trail because of it's beauty and mountain ranges! I grew up in a ski resort in Romania and I wanted to hike a trail that reminded me of the mountains back home! The trail starts at the border with Mexico, crossing through the states of California, Oregon and Washington and ends at the Canadian border! Most hikers complete it between 4-6 months and it took me exactly 5 months and 19 days to thru hike this massive trail, walking a total of 2653 miles! You walk every day from one place to another with your home in your backpack...a tent, sleeping system, some clothes and food, resupplying in the towns near the trail...It is a great adventure, camping in beautiful places and meeting a lot of interesting people along the way! Yes Washington has some beautiful scenery...my favorite section was around the Goat Rocks Wilderness with Knife's Edge or by Mount Rainier National Park...made some great memories there! Before my hike I watched a lot of videos too, with other hikers completing this trail and it seemed like a tough thing to do! But one day I said to myself that I will start saving money, buy the gear that I need and try and hike it the following year and I'm glad I did! Amazing job, well done! This was a seriously nice watch, thank you! There are a lot of PCT videos and blogs out there, and I find this one was a cut above a lot of the others. Gorgeous camerawork, mostly focusing on the natural sights along the way, and a very calming voice to listen to. I hope you end up making more :)

For a few years too I was dreaming to thru hike a long distance trail in the US and eventually I started saving up, bought the gear that I needed for the hike, put my job on hold for a while and started hiking the PCT the following year! You should definitely try and make it happen if you can...it is such a great experience and you will make so many beautiful memories and friends along the way!!! Take care!

My wife and I just finished watching this wonderful video. It was so exciting to see all the familiar faces from the class of 2020. I remember meeting Money very early on, being shocked to hear that he had never backpacked prior to starting the PCT, then running into him again at Hart's Pass when we we're heading to the terminus and he was on his way out after finishing. Hi, Ken & Thia!!! Just finished watching, and had been wondering if you guys ran into each other!! LOL Only got out a couple times with TM last summer... busy 'care-giving' and 'taxi-driver'... I'd been following 'Sam & Moriah's Journey (they were EARLY finishers) and met them at Harts Pass Aug 10th when they returned from the Border. Could NOT believe someone had 'cold beer n goodies' to celebrate!!! Hope All's Well in Palouse!!

Loved your Documentary. I follow as many PCT hikers as possible every year...I have never seen the passes and Mt Whitney with no snow :O ... What was your start -finish date?? And this was 2020? Great video. What drone did you take with you? I’m toying with the idea of taking my drone with me (DJI Mini 2) but am not sure whether it is worth it or not. Were you able to use it as much as you wanted?

Thanks Oliver! Yea, I also carried the first version of the Mavic Mini...it was freshly released at that moment when I bought it and pretty lightweight...I also had the fly more combo which served as my battery bank to charge my phone too, so instead of carrying another power bank I used the usb port from the fly more combo! Yes, I flew it whenever I had the chance and it's good for capturing the views from above! Thanks for watching!

Great Stuff....But what happened to the new shoes? I saw another documentary of the PCT where the guy must have gone through 4 or 5 pairs...

Well I did go through 4 pairs of shoes, but they were similar looking, they were the Altra Lone Peaks, and if you watch closely, I started with some yellow and grey ones, half way through I have some grey and red ones, and towards the end I had a La Sportiva model for a little bit then switched back to the grey and orange ones from Altra! Yepp, usually I wait for them to leave or I go off the trail, at a safe distance and walk around the area where they are, then hop back on trail!

Did you have any problems with your backpack being black in the hot desert sun? Did you feel like it made you extra hot?

I didn't get too hot with it, I tried to avoid the heat from the middle of the day, and some sections of the desert I even hiked at night or very early in the morning! I chose the black model because the dyneema composite material of that model is thicker and more durable than the white model that they have.

They're not that bad, you just give them time and let them slowly get out of the way or get off trail and go around them at a safe distance and then continue hiking!

Haha, me too! Haven’t seen one on trail but some hikers that were walking a few hours ahead of me did! They showed me the photo of it at the campsite! Thanks for watching!!!
