Hiking Highest Mountain on the Isle of Arran / Goatfell / Goat Fell / Island Life

Our third day living and exploring the beauty of the Isle of Arran…we hike the highest mountain on the island, known as Goatfell or Goat Fell, at 2,867 feet (874 m)! Perfect weather and fantastic views!

Simon that was brilliant from the nice drive to the walk through the forest and then It was beautiful near the stream and bridge and a gorgeous view at the top. Then the beach to top it all off looked lovely and the weather kept nice too . I do enjoy the videos with you both :) thank you 🙌

Well signposted trail and a perfect day for an early morning climb. Bit rocky mind once you got out of the wooded area but superb views from the summit and what a nice kern to meet you too. Looks like as well as the summit, you had the beach all to yourselves too, did they know you are coming... ;o) Cheers Alan

Great Video now know what I missed on my recent holiday to Arran don,t think my fitness was up to climbing the Goat,though we did manage the walks to the large waterfall the caves on the sea shore and down the lovely Glen Rosa and your beach looks familiar Thanks for posting

What a great video, may I ask, how long did it take to get to the top?

Hi Michael, from what we remember, we think it took between 3 and 4 hours, probably closer to the latter. Also depends on your fitness levels, we definitely slowed down the last stretch, which was quite steep in parts. But it’s doable and the views are so incredible on a clear day. All our free car park now have satellite pay stations. Nothing stays free as capitalism dies 🙂Love the moss forest I love how empty it is. You had the mountain to yourselves No bikini on the beach Simon? lol I'm off to snowshoe some frozen beaver ponds. lovely and sunny here in Canada but -18C (today's high lol)
