We spent three days and two nights hiking Mount Rinjani and wow...it is tough! In part two of this episode of The Lombok Life, I give you an in-depth look at what it's like to climb Indonesia's second tallest volcano (3726m). In part one, we climbed up to the crater rim from Sembalun where we made camp. Part two picks up right where we left off - it's all about making our way to the summit for sunrise some of the best views in Indonesia.
We also hike into the volcanic crater, exploring the lake (Segara Anak), before enjoying the rainforests above Senaru. It's tough, it's gruelling, it's relentless. But it's worth every second. This is one of the best adventures you can have in Indonesia. It's pure magic. This is hiking Mount Rinjani. I hope you enjoy!

I'm not sure where this all leads yet but I'm enjoying every second and yeah, that's the ultimate goal :) no matter what the platform is, I just want to share stories and create work that shows the beauty in humanity, the beauty in travel and the beauty of our planet 👍🏼 if I can do that with each story I tell, then job done! Got a new project that starts filming tomorrow...the cycle begins again 😂 hopefully I'll have a new upload soon. Thanks so much for always tuning in and taking the time to watch 🤙🏼

yes.. but we have to have enough resources to do it.. 😅 no, I mean not all the mountains in Indonesia, only the mountains that are tall and become icons in Indonesia. such as Kerinci, Cartens pyramids, Merapi, and others. Have you ever been to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi where there is Mount Latimojong... after climbing you can tour Mamasa or Toraja districts, the culture is very beautiful and extraordinary, it can relieve fatigue after climbing. Maybe 😂

Great hike, guys. I did the part from Senaru to the rim and back, in one day, back in 2019 without a guide. Started from the village at midnight, got up there for the sunrise, then spent four hours exploring the rim. Never went down to the lake though, as I was told the path was destroyed by the earthquake. Really enjoyed your video, especially the parts by the lake, that I missed.

Thanks for the two videos about climbing rinjani, Josh. They're awesome and informative. We are planning to climb this October and would like to know how much would it cost for an exclusive tour to mt rinjani. We are a couple as well and we thought we'd just join a group because it's cheaper but if the cost for an exclusive tour just like what you guys did is reasonable, we'd consider taking it instead. Hope you can give us an idea on the cost and if you could recommend a legitimate guide, I would greatly appreaciate it. Cheers!
@JoshEdwardsFilms

And thank you for taking the time to watch :) I really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed them. In terms of an exclusive tour, we didn't do that...it was just because of the pandemic, we were the only two in the group. In normal circumstances with more tourists, there may have been others with us. I have climbed in a group before and it's good fun because you get to meet others and it keeps the costs down. For an exclusive tour I'm not sure what it would cost, but in a group tour it's usually around the $150usd mark for 3 days 2 nights. Obviously the more group members, the cheaper it gets. If you want to shoot me an email, I can send you over the contact details of my guide Naho: JoshEdwardsFilms@gmail.com

@JoshEdwardsFilms
@JoshEdwardsFilms 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! You're very, very welcome :) I appreciate you taking the time to watch and really glad that you enjoyed it. The waste question is a good one. When I first climbed in 2017 it was AWFUL. When I climbed last year filming these videos it was much, much better. I think there's a lot more awareness and conversation about the problem and they are trying harder. But I also think that there was less waste due to the fact nobody had been up there for years after the earthquake and then the pandemic. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next few years with many more tourists coming back...

Amazing journey! Approximately how much does this cost and is it seasonal?
@JoshEdwardsFilms
@JoshEdwardsFilms 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Tom, really appreciate you taking the time to watch :) yeah it is seasonal. In the wet season between October and March they will close the mountain - you don't wanna be up there in the wrong weather 😂 so climb anytime between April and October, in the dry season 👍🏼 as for how much you pay, it really depends on the level of service you need and who you go with etc. As an international tourist I would say for three days and two nights anywhere between 2m to 3m IDR per person. Obviously the bigger the group of people, the price can come down a bit. That's to cover everything like transport, your porters, your food, tickets into the national park etc etc. Hope that helps!
