We've meant to try the First Lake Loop for sometime. We have passed it so many times but never actually done it.
You park at the carpool parking lot off the 101 Lequille exit and cross the road to enter the trail. We were there just as fall colours were starting to turn and it was beautiful. I can imagine it would be stunning at peak colours.
The trail is a loop, but is a one way direction. It is welcoming to dog owners, but asks you scoop the poop or flick it off the trail. We highly encourage dog owners to pick up the poop and pack it out, especially this close to waterways, as dog waste is an environmental contaminant and can be a component that leads to blooms of algae in waterways. A while single use plastic (ie poop bags) are also an environmental concern, in this case we have to pick the best choice, which is to scoop. There are "better" choices for poop bags.
