Returning to Washington I took advantage of some beautiful early May weather and did two trails! Talapus and Olallie lakes and Franklin falls are beautiful this time of year and a great way to delve back into PNW forests. Enjoy!

The best swimming hole is above El Portal in Yosemite. Under the huge rock fall. Whiter rock on cliff. If low water. We go when it is 100 degrees. Its before Tamarack Creek/falls.

Franklin is impressive. You can swim Rainbow 🌈 Falls in CA. I use life vest becsuse I like floating. Mammoth Lakes is compact. You get multiple things in one area. Camping is G. Duck Pass. Rainbow Falls. Devils Postpile. Crystal Peak. Ritter Range if you want long one. June Lake, Mexican Restaurant. I sleep at Grant Lake on peninsula. Drive daily to T Meadows do day hikes. Mono Pass was crazy busy on weekends. Mono behind Tom's place, not in Yosemite TH. It is short distance pass. Kearsarge/Whitney/Cottonwood/Shepherd/Taboose are all on Independence end. Bam. For your next trip. White Mountain is easy 14252. The locked gate is 12000+ feet. Cottonwood is easy. Small elevation gain. Parking at 10k+.

I am rapidly becoming a Rainier person. I like elevation camping and walking above 8000 feet. Drive to Yellowstone now from Eburg. Beartooth. California is a haul. Crater is interesting because it is exactly like Yellowstone in many respects. Minus thermal. But if driving 7 hours I am driving 10 11 to Yellowstone. Same with Olympic. Going to Glacier rather than that meandering traffic nightmare. Olympic peninsula is huge. If not from here it will surprise you.
