I used the GoPro MAX's TimeWarp feature to capture a hyperlapse of my hike on Telescope Peak in Death Valley National Park, California. I had some technically difficulties with my camera on the way up, so this is a hyperlapse of the descent.
Telescope Peak is the highest point (11,043 ft) within Death Valley National Park (it is also the highest point of the Panamint Range). From the top of the mountain you can see for over one hundred miles in many directions, including west to Mount Whitney, and east to Charleston Peak. The mountain was named for the great distance visible from the summit.
For our hike, we ended up parking at Mahogany Flat Campground; however, make sure you have a 4x4 vehicle if you park here because the road starting after the Charcoal Kilns is narrow, steep, has washboard features, and is pretty rocky (we were in a jeep, but there were less capable cars that seemed to make it to the top without issue - just take it slow). If you don't want to risk it, you can park at the Charcoal Kilns, but this will add on around 3.5 additional miles (round-trip) to your hike.
Round-trip from Mahogany Flat Campground the hike came out to about 12.7 miles for us. The trail itself wasn't overly difficult (the distance is what makes it tough), but be warned that there will be steep drop-offs off to your side for pretty much the entirety of the hike. The total elevation gain from Mahogany Flat Campground (~8,000 ft elevation) to the peak is ~3,000 ft.
