Join my bucket list journey to Everest Base Camp. I've been to 3 out 7 summits of highest peaks of each continents, but I haven't expected the EBC trek to be so tough (definitely harder than I expected), but definitely an adventure of a lifetime that everyone should experience.

08:40 Staying in a tea house

Nepal, you became one of the top destinations that I've ever visited (and I've traveled quite a lot), I will be back! Here is my journey from this video day by day:
Day 1: Flying to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,610 m)
Day 2: Trek from Phakding up the valley to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)
Day 3: Acclimatisation day. A hike to Hotel Everest View and Exploring Namche Bazaar (the Sherpa Museum and Namche Monastery)
Day 4: Trek from Namche Bazaar up to Tengboche (3,867 m), visiting the Tengboche Monastery (my most memorable day!! But it's not allowed to film the ceremony in the monastery, you could only hear part of it in my video. Definitely, must do experience in Nepal)

So much this! The people I met on my two trips there were some of the nicest and most humble I’ve ever met in my life. When I think about it deeper, it makes a lot of sense - you cannot help but be humble when you live on/near the force of nature that is the Himalayas… you’re humbled every day, from dawn to dusk, and cannot escape the awesomeness and grandeur of nature.

To turn serious I know food poisening and this quite weak, sick and miserable feeling connected with it, which lasts at least two days. The only things I would be able in this state is watching TV and just hike through a beautiful landscape as you did. Strangely I often underestimate my ability to suffer but "evaluate" others mostly more realistic. And I also know, that you get a free head that way! Shurely a usefull "side efect" for a tough, persistent person for instance..🗻😀

The climb up to the base must've been rough yet you and others made it all the way to the top!. I am always blown away by the breath taking scenery around these places. It never gets too old for me. The pristine waters, snowy glaciers, the majestic mountain tops- this is all heaven on earth. I also loved at how the end you mentioned that you've been here only for a short span and more others will come here one day. It was so profound.

Hi Eli! Congratulations it was a great experience going to Everest. As I saw, there were no good moments due to the fact that the mountains cause illness, but, it is normal and part of this experience. Also, it's nice to meet so many people and how, thanks to tourism, a place like Nepal has improved, even if there is still a lot to improve. Thank you for letting us see and learn about this place and its people and, for feeling bad for us, once again, however, I believe that your work will be rewarded and many will follow in your footsteps. Greetings and a hug.

Wonderful video Eli !!! I'm 68 and this is the best Everest video I've seen in all my years. Do you think you'll go back to try to summit Everest? (I understand that doing so requires spending a month or two at base camp trying to sufficiently acclimatize yourself to the altitude. That is too big of a big time and money commitment for most people.)

Wow, I am so impressed, you are so brave. And that was so lovely of your fellow traveller to do a little vlogging for you while you were struggling with feeling sick. When it comes to food poisoning, I have heard the best advice is not to eat meat on this trek, since almost none of it is produced in the villages. It has to be brought up by yak, so the meat is strapped to their back for days, unrefrigerated. It is just not worth the risk, although you are probably hungry for a really hearty meal after so much hiking. OMG, under 90% oxygen saturation is probably not a comfortable feeling, under normal circumstances (I mean about sealevel in the western world) we would give someone at least a little oxygen.

Loved this one. I did the Everest base camp trek in 1985 (starting further back, in Lamosangu), and it was a lot less developed then. There was only one stone hut at Gorak Shep, and the runway at Lukla airport was grass - decided to walk back to Jiri.

Reaching Lukla will be fine for me. Just the thrill of diving into the airport and departing in a light airliner, plus spending a few days hanging around with the locals and learning about the things they care about and treasure should satisfy the goals of a trip into this region. Thanks for sharing this experience and showing others what they may expose themselves to when attempting to risk their lives just for the nonsense of nurturing their blown egos.

Great video! If you ever go to that part of the world again try the Annapurna circuit, close to Pokhara, a beautiful town on a lake. Average time for hike 21-24 days, lots of suspension bridges first half, you pick your own pace staying in villages. The mid point roughly is the highest at 5416m .A handful of people get altitude sickness and have to go back. There is a hot spring spa at one of the villages. Much less crowded than Everest area. You can also go to Annapurna base camp at the end of trek, or do it as a separate separate excursion. I did find Katmandu very polluted with vehicle emissions, old vehicles. This was back in 2001.
