The weather had been perfect all November. After a failed attempt a few years ago, I was itching to complete the ridge walk. The first weekend I had free was so damn hot.. Still, it was an awesome experience. The Stirling Ranges is a truly beautiful place. Worth every bit of effort it demands to hike it. It takes all your working life stresses and smacks the big red reset button. You leave with a true appreciation for life and our beautiful country.
27Kg pack, including 13 litres of water(200ml spare!!! was so hot!!). On trail @ 10:00 Friday. Off trail @ 10:00 Sunday. Ellen Peak to Bluff Knoll.

That is an honest and accurate portrayal of the pain and the beauty that damn ridge has to offer. Massive respect to you going solo and sharing it.

My last attempt in Oct 16 with some friends was a failure. Turned back after a night at N Baker's Knob due to rather bad weather. This Oct will go for #6. :-)

Yeah mate... I haven't experienced the serious wet weather, though I have read it can be pretty brutal.. I'm talking with a couple guys about doing the ridge again in October -- not sure if it'll come to fruition yet...I hope the timing works out, I could do with another trip out there! Good luck on your trip, mate.

Liked the video mate. Well done making it! Do you have the coords for the first camp site you visited? The one when you woke up above the clouds?

Thanks, mate. Was a blast hiking it, and making the video. Here's a link to my GPS track(excuse the few times I lost trail and bush-bashed.) You'll be looking for the trasnsition from red to green. Forgive the crazy GPS trail, whenever I stop moving the GPS keeps logging and gets a bit on the confused side of life. This link is temporary. Not sure how long the host will keep it up for. Though I've shared the same thing on my dropbox(links further below). www.gpsvisualizer.com/display/20170628040740-56153-map.html GPS Track laid over Google Map >> www.dropbox.com/s/vx761l6big6j081/Stirling%20Ridge%20Solo%202016.html GPX file >> www.dropbox.com/s/p6fxhs6fbaq0d0x/Stirling%20Solo.gpx **Small disclaimer** Don't use these as a guide to do the trail. I lost the trail several times, and it pushed my times out to a point where my second night was on a pretty rugged rocky outcrop. It's best to take the book, a compass, and your own solid navigation skills. EDIT: Additional to the rought GPS Co-ords. You'll know the place when you see it. It's on the South side, and you come around a bend into a large, open lush grassed area with a massive rock wall to your right. For memory, it was the only place where I saw this lush green grass. I slept on the grass towards the Western end of the area. The trail skirts around the South side of the grassed area. It's well protected from the North. Though you're very exposed to any weather from the South.

It was a shame to see quite a bit of rubbish up there. I brought some back with me. Unfortunately, the higher profile of the hike is leading to more people using it.

My little cooking station on the first night had a bunch of half burnt rubbish. I hauled all that out, along with a few other bits and pieces.. It is a shame to see people discarding things.. Though I'm sure some are unintentional -- like my lost hat on the exit down from Bluff Knoll.. I miss that hat.
