Thanks again to HIKMICRO for the loan of this versatile three-in-one spotter / day-scope add-on and dedicated riflescope, for our honest / independent review. The internals of the Alpex A50T with a significantly smaller / lighter body shape, and the addition of an LED IR illuminator and onboard/integrated LRF.

Nice review. Very grateful to you for providing the torque values for the base screws. As for PARD, no idea why they have this hideous video stretch - it's the same for their back clip-ons. Their sensor is 4:3 and instead of cropping the video, they stretch it to 16:9 (1920x1080), which produces a very ugly effect. It can be corrected in post-production but it's a real pain in the ass.

Thank you Russ and Bruce. I am thinking of purchasing one of these for one of my sub 12 air rifles but wondered can you focus the menu to suit your eyesight to be able to see it clearly. I have poor eyesight and need to be able to do that.

Hi Russ,great review mate! I’m torn on this unit mate! I would love to put one on my objective lense as a front mount clip on! I would not be using the standard IR.. I would be using a sniper hog coyote cannon which is 850nm and excellent with NV units! Just wanted to get your opinion mate as I would be using it solely for foxes at 200-250 yards maximum! Can’t wait to get your input thanks Russ.. take care pal

Hi John thanks for watching... hmm I'm really not the best person to ask TBH, as I've decided I vastly prefer dedicated digital scopes to add-ons, whether they're front- or rear-mounted. I do own a Pard NV007 but it's gathering dust for now, and I'm returning a similar rear add-on from Oneleaf.ai as I prefer compact dedicated units. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'll ask Bruce for you though, as he has more experience of add-ons. @@johnbyrne8024 From Bruce... I hate to disappoint the guy, but there's no way a Cheetah with any IR, is fox capable at 250 yards. In add-on mode the Cheetah has x1 magnification, so any more magnification is coming from the scope and pixellation becomes a major issue as the scope magnification is increased. I seem to remember that, when we tested the Cheetah, the image when used as an add-on was so bad we simply didn't mention how it performed as an add-on in our review. Cheers Bruce

Thank you for this review. Very grateful for all your reviews and looking forward to the next 2 parts. I watched the earlier Pard DS35 v's Hikmicro Alpex reviews and bought the Alpex as a result. I really like the Alpex, the day/night image is extremely impressive and you can easily see small targets at ranges up to 300m. However, on my sub 12 air rifle, I do think the set up is over scoped. Gauging the distance accurately to targets in the dark is very difficult, even though this is essential for sub 12 .177 rabbit head shots. So, judging by this review, it already looks like I will be selling the Alpex and buying the Cheetah.

Hi Nick, if you feel the Alpex is over-scoped you'll probably like the Cheetah's lower mag & wide-angle view. The Cheetah does have a smaller objective lens though so it's likely it'll not perform quite as well in low light as the Alpex. Thanks for watching and please share. All the best, cheers. Russ

@@NickGled Both the Cheetah DS35-50RF and Cheetah C32F-RL should be good for sub-12 use as both have onboard IR and onboard/onscreen LRF, but the two have quite different views with a wider-angle shorter-range view on the Cheetah. Whereas the DS35-50RF has a narrower FOV and slightly higher mag. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

Fancied one of these to use as a stand alone on the air rifle for ratting but with the ability to stick it on the front of the scopes on the . 22 /. 243 for longer distances

@@RussDouglas222 have you had a chance to try it as a front add on?. Was torn between the alpex and the pard till I came across the cheetah thought it was going to tick all the boxes short distances for ratting slight2longer for rabbits and foxes. But thinking its maybe a jack of all trades but a master of none and maybe stick with plan a and go pard. Or wait for the alpex with the lrf 🙄

Ah they've not been completed yet, sorry. With dedicated NV being so good these days I'm not so much a fan of front (or rear) add-on NV; but I'll try to complete these reviews. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

Very good review and a good scope, but the scopes with this type of mount lose de zero easily in rifle calibers 30-06, 308, 300, etc...

Thank-you, hmm we found that these HIKMICRO scopes required a LOT of torque (25in/lbs) to tighten the two (M5?) Allen screws securing the scope body to the Picatinny mount. But once that was achieved they were rock-solid. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
