24:00 There's an extra poignancy to this scene when you know that there was originally a sub plot where Mrs Page suspected that Neal was having an affair and that all the 'issues' getting back were simply excuses to spend time with the 'other woman'. It's only at this point that he introduces '...a friend of mine.' and she says 'Hello Mr Griffiths' that she knows it was all true and she had nothing to fear, leading to the tender kiss.

In 2018, I was having "minor" surgery two weeks before Christmas, but I had a freakish amount of post operative internal bleeding, and between the blood loss and pre-existing heart disease, I had a heart attack. So I ended up in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit watching all these happy, festive holiday specials and commercials on TV and thinking "Well, this doesn't quite match up to my current circumstances."

Hey Marij, I know their pain all too well. I was going to see my daughter for thanksgiving about 10 years ago, on a trip from NYC to DC on the bus. A car hits the bus at the Delaware Memorial toll gate. When the state trooper runs everyone's info, he finds our bus driver has 3 outstanding warrants and must be arrested on site. The company couldn't send another driver for 6 hours. Needless to say, a 5-hour trip took 18 hours to complete, but I made it.

I watch this movie every thanksgiving, what’s amazing is that John Hughes kept having to cut certain parts out because the original draft of the script would have produced a four-hour movie. One deleted section was when they get pulled over for speeding in that burned out car the state trooper tells them that they overshot Chicago by 100 miles, and then another fight between Neal and Del erupts and the state trooper arrests them both. I wish Paramount would release that footage.

The cameo with Kevin Bacon is funny because he was in another John Hughes movie called "She's Having A Baby" that came out the year before this one. In fact, there's a scene in this movie where we're at Neal's house with his wife and you can hear Kevin Bacon saying a line from that movie on their TV (with his co-star's response): "What if the shoe was on the other foot, huh?" "I'd go BAREFOOT!" This is a great Thanksgiving movie for so many reasons. It's a shame that John and Steve didn't get to work together in some other project (not necessarily a sequel).
