Condoleezza Rice talking about "worrying about the rise of terrorism" when you consider how much terrorism resulted from the actions of the US government during her tenure is actually a bit sickening. Pretty much everything Daesh was able to achieve can be laid at the feet of the Iraq war.

1:20 “The Arab league, who for the first time said, ‘we want to be a part of protecting the people of Libya’” Actually, only 11 of the 22 Arab League nations were present to vote on the Libya intervention, 6 of which were GCC members - aka America’s gulf monarchy allies. So it’s not like there was universal consensus independent of US interests. This is not to mention that the African Union condemned the intervention.

To be fair, Speer was even more on the nose about it. When asked if it was because of his apostasy and good personality that he wasn't sentenced to life he responded "well, if it was, I must be thankful". Because they are shielded by the institution that is the United States, the fact that Hillary Clinton et al. are war criminals is actually obscured, and so they are obligated to behave as if they weren't war criminals. This allows them to trick stupid people. Speer did not have this luxury, being associated with what is popularly known as the most evil and criminal regime to have ever existed

He still got them to talk. I would have loved to see an on-screen annotation with some corrections, at least... but I applaud Jon's in-the-moment sense of when pushing would cause the subject to be less talkative. @ his take on Dave Chapelle, Jon's a comedian and the conversation was moving towards censoring comedy. Except Sam is WRONG. The UN mandate was ALL MEANS NECESSARY which includes eliminating Qadhafi. The Security Council today effectively authorized the use of force in Libya to protect civilians from attack, specifically in the eastern city of Benghazi, which Colonel Muammar Al-Qadhafi has reportedly said he will storm tonight to end a revolt against his regime. Acting under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, which provides for the use of force if needed, the Council adopted a resolution by 10 votes to zero, with five abstentions, authorizing Member States “to take all necessary measures… to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack in the Libyan Arab Jamhariya, including Benghazi, while excluding an occupation force.” The abstentions included China and Russia, which have the power of veto, as well as Brazil, Germany and India. [Sam claimed Russia and China were in agreement when they were not] Expressing grave concern at the deteriorating situation, the escalation of violence, and the heavy civilian casualties, the Council established a no-fly zone, banning all flights - except those for humanitarian purposes - in Libyan airspace in order to help protect civilians. It specifically calls on Arab League states to cooperate with other Member States in taking the necessary measures. The Arab League last weekend requested the Council to impose a no-fly zone after Mr. Qadhafi was reported to have used warplanes, warships, tanks and artillery to seize back cities taken over in what started out a month ago as mass protests by peaceful civilians seeking an end to his 41-year rule.

Bush debating President George W. Bush. The footage and the issues sought out by Jon Stewart and his team on _The Daily Show_ has not yet been duplicated anywhere but we need it.

The sense of self-absorption and entitlement could choke a donkey! On the scale of government sanctioned murder and imprisonment, Gaddafi was average on the world measurement. He was a “bad actor” to the elites because he was going to create a dollar that wasn’t reliant on the elites support. You can’t say good or bad in geopolitics, they are almost all guilty to some extent. Some are much worse than others, for sure. However, America continues to rank near the worst on the scale.

John Stewart has sadly never been a good interviewer. This is pretty par for the course for him, and for Condi and Hilary since neither says anything that isn't a lie. The US as a democracy has invaded countless of its neighbors for one thing, or if you just want to count "real" nations and not native Americans we've invaded and taken territory from Spain and Mexico. We also have used all sorts of weapons of mass destruction, particularly the atomic bomb as Sam said, and supported all kinds of terrorists. Even the line about dictatorships not letting institutions build up is pretty ironic considering what kind of disaster Condi and her friends caused with de-Bathifacation destroying all the governmental institutions of Iraq.

After coming to power in Libya, the RCC government of Gaddafi initiated a process of directing funds toward providing education, health care and housing for all. Public education in the country became free and primary education compulsory for both sexes. Medical care became available to the public at no cost, but providing housing for all was a task the RCC government was unable to complete.[2] Under Gaddafi, per capita income in the country rose to more than US$11,000, the 5th highest in Africa. During the 1980s and 1990s, Gaddafi, in alliance with the Eastern Bloc and Fidel Castro's Cuba, openly supported rebel movements like Nelson Mandela's African National Congress, Yasser Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization, the Provisional Irish Republican Army and the Polisario Front (Western Sahara). What a monster he was, he basically helped fight for freedom and autonomy from Western imperialism across the globe!!! No wonder they wanted him dead for so long!!!

Sam is wrong here. They had the mandate from UN to do what they wanted. 10 of the 15-nation council approved a resolution to give a U.N. mandate, which set a no-fly zone over Libya and permitted foreign military forces, including NATO, to use “all necessary measures” to protect Libyan civilians. Jon pushes back on this and the failures of USA. Also, the two women mention the failure. So again, Sam is wrong on this. Afghanistan, well, it was a direct security issue after an attack. I'm surprised Sam doesn't talk about that, and say they are correct on that front. Iraq was because of trade, was because of oil. Which also has some security issues around it, but the belief, no matter the lie on the weapons, was that it was for security when they voted for it. While I'm happy Obama started a path for less US military intervention, when looking at the past, this has often been the case for USA. 2nd world war, it was first after Pearl Harbor, USA chose to go directly into the war. Until then, USA had been holding back and sold weapons instead.
