Senator MCcain deserves our respect. When he PUBLICLY corrected those people for attempting to denigrate Obama, I remember getting emotional - we may never see that type of integrity and leadership again. God bless John MCcain, and cohort and protect his family. He was a true patriot!

The deep-seated vitriol that so many Americans have for Hillary is unparalleled in American politics. For 30 years, her critics have maligned her reputation, turning her into a boogeyman of sorts, a two-dimensional caricature. The mere mention of her name engenders an almost knee-jerk antipathy in people, one that is strikingly disproportionate to what sins she may have committed. Granted, she is not perfect. She has made mistakes. All public officials do. But how can one fight back against an avalanche of indiscretions ensconced in conspiracy theory, lies and misinformation? Pizza Gate, anyone? The unfortunate reality, of course, is that the critics won. All of their blood, sweat and tears in taking down this woman finally paid off when millions of Americans decided a hapless reality television star with no scruples would be a better choice for president than Hillary. For many people, it didn't matter that Trump was indecent or unqualified. Hillary was a non-starter -- period. No questions asked. Indeed, Hillary didn't fail us in 2016. We failed her. Cue the Hillary hate.....

The negative comments surrounding John McCain‘s death make me pine for the days of printed media only. The disrespect is palpable in today’s American politics and I blame the echo chambers on both sides. Ask a Democrat to describe their ideals and what is important to them and ask republican the same thing and you will be amazed how closely aligned those principles will be for most Americans. It’s not our team versus your team we are on the same team we just have different opinions on how we should play the game.

I still remember when John McCain defended Obama when a white woman was clearly being racist. I knew then what a decent upstanding man he really was, a man of honour and humility. I may not have agreed with John McCain’s policies, but had the utmost respect for him. He was one of a kind. A true hero.

It’s been sometime since I’ve heard complete sentences coming from a politician

How refreshing to have a politician speak intelligently and warmly and as a friend about a politician of another party. This is how American politics should be conducted - with respect and collegiality. Where people may disagree in their political goals but refuse to descend into the gutter in order to do so. It also shows the quality of Hillary Clinton that John McCain was pleased to call her a friend. This is the woman that you could have had for president.

I noticed the differences in how political matters, at home and globally, I see how far we have allowed our country to fall. Truly shameful. We must bring decency and civility back.

I have deep respect for a man like John. He treated everyone the same regardless of party or whether you disagreed with him or you were of different color.

I think she did a great job in her answers and her personal reflections. This vodka shot story I heard from someone else on talk radio who was along for the ride and he was a bit too inebriated. Lol. Nice to hear her bring it up because I was led to believe that they basically drank and drank, vodka involved, and Hillary and McCain drank and kept it together from place to place and at some point McCain had left a restaurant swinging the remainder of a vodka bottle while in the midst of being swept off to yet another spot.
