Love your guys' videos, they are always top quality. I'm a general contractor in the US, that's unfortunately way out of my price range for a rotary hammer. I do appreciate an ultra high quality tool though (I have a beautiful Metabo grinder)! Right now I have a Makita corded which is astonishingly good for its $150 or so price tag. full featured, anti vibe, better than my old bosch. I do want a cordless model eventually, so will stay in my main platform of deWalt 20v max, I believe their's is a solid tool as well. Cheers!

[Dwain] cheer Steven. Yeah this is a premium tool for top end users. There are a couple of really nice brushless SDS drills on the Dewalt 18V line to look into, we already reviewed one - the DCH273.

My dad has 2 Hilti drills, the cord version of this I think and one he has Had for maybe 30 years... they both work beautifully and I hope I'm going to inherit them one day. (Because they are not cheap to buy and I don't make a living drilling into bricks. More steel drilling myself) I used the new one once, I was drilling into a concrete factory floor... it was like a hot knife through butter!

So the voltage on these batteries is a lot higher than all the other cordless power tool brands. 36V vs the usual 18V. Double the voltage. So what advantage does that provide?

Great machine. You can also do a business lease from HILTI for $74 a month for the kit. It's called Hilti fleet management. They cover theft and organise loan tools for you if it ever needs a service. unreal value

sure is, its on the hilti.com.au website. just search for 'fleet management' they do it for all cordless and corded tools. pay nothing upfront, and just pay a low monthly cost.

It's a 20% markup from the normal selling cost on the lifetime of 3 years. That's not 'lowly' by any means :p
@imoverhere
@imoverhere 7 жыл бұрын
its a premium of about 14% to fleet it from what I can see. when you consider theft is covered, servicing,loan tools, replacement batteries etc its not much to pay for guaranteed uptime.saying that it is a workhorse of a tool. not worthwhile getting it if its only gonna be used briefly and once in a blue moon!

does this hammer drill have a hour Metter that locks the drill after a certain limit and then you need to go to the service? because i heard that hilti have that in some of their products

Have you reviewed the dewalt flexvolt sds max drill yet? I would like to see a review on hitachi one. Hitachi have 2 different versions 18v and 36volt

Oz Tool Talk yeah at this point in my career as a cabinet maker I got no use for sds drill so I know nothing about them. But hitachi are famous for make their jack hammers so I would think the hitachi sds with chisel attachment would have benefits? Maybe in the vibration damping
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
[Dwain] would have to try out to know. All companies have their best products and then weaker products. Lineups change so quickly that what was amazing 2 years ago could be so-so now in comparison to the competition.

I know I'm late but what's the size capacity on this? Can it take 1-1/4 ?
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 5 жыл бұрын
[Dwain] That would be outside its recommended range. I don't think a 32mm (1-1/4) SDS+ bit is even easy to find. I think it would do it in a pinch. Should really look into an SDS-MAX for that sort of drilling.

next time break the tiles by hitting them from the top so the chisel is vertical instead of trying to pry them off , way easier and faster

As always, great review from you guys:) Hilti is a great peace of gear. But the price? Come on. I could buy another top brand hammerdrill and still have money for a top corded SDS+ for heavier tasks.
@OZToolTalk

I used to see more of Hilti machines before. I guess alot of contractors (my self included) find it to expensive. And their other battery machines is no better than the ones provided by Milwaukee, Makita, Panasonic etc. Yes i have compared. But Hilti probably makes the best hammerdrills, corded that is. And now probably also battery. But if you choose a brand i found it really practical just sticking with it. Same battery, charger etc. In my case that is Makita (great ergonomics, fits my hands like a glove. and probably one of the largest selections on the same batteries.) And my local Makita dealer provide really good service and guarantee. Of 12 batteries two eventually died. No questions asked, they just gave me two new ones. From 3.0 ah to new 5.0 ah with indicator. That is better than i got from my local hilti dealer in 2004 or 05. When i bought an insanely expensive (think it was 20v or somethin like that) hammerdrill. After a couple of months one of the batteries died. I was told i had to pay for service or buy a new, way overpriced battery. I sold the machine with one working battery and have newer bought a Hilti again. I use alot of Hilti fastening materials tough.
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 7 жыл бұрын
[Dwain] wow, Hilti would be dissapointed to hear stories like that. They rely on their reliability and warranty reputation. To me, you buy this drill because you drill big holes ALL the time. I'd have no problem having a second 18V platform to compliment it.

Even in 2004/5 Hilti had it's 2 year "No cost warranty" so unless you dropped the machine/battery from the roof or made it swim, they should've been replaced for free.

Just a small note: Having fibreglass reinforced casing isnt anything special. Makita, Bosch, Dewalt.. they all do it. Mind taking a look on the housing and finding the ' stamped in' type of plastic used? Will be soemthing like ' PA6-GF30' or something

WhyBother Bosch indeed uses something called durecase. but as the stamped in label of the hilti tool proves they use industry standard pa6-gf30.
