Not too many black folks from the ghetto like rock but I was one of the ones that did and in 8th grade this kid named mike (I knew like 5 mikes) showed me this song and havent left since . We even had matching heartagram shirts. We dont talk anymore now (since we're both 26 & doing things in life now) but if I ever see him again it's an automatic H.I.M reunion

To me this song represents the human ego, and the destruction of others feelings and hearts to feed one's ego. Destruction of someone in hope of love and something pure. An innocent butterfly killed, an innocent hope for love killed. For someones ego, someone's physical needs to please their soul.

I doubt that. 0:31 "heaven ablaze in our eyes" this one is clear, they're overthrowing heaven, 0:41 "blood on our hands is the wine, we offer a sacrifice", in christianity, wine is treated as Jesus's blood, so the blood of Jesus is on their hands, 0:51 ripping the wings probably means taking away his freedom, his holiness and all kinds of shit. Then you have their logo, which is an incomplete pentagram, which can also be interpreted as a hearth inside a pentagram, which shows band's love for Satan. It could be sent from heaven if the heaven's already been overthrown, but really, as if any of that's real.

It's a metaphor for the stop Floating or Fluttering around and focus on life but also to Mate. A butterflies lifestyle is nearing its end when it mates. It's wings often fall off just before it dies.

I remember when this song came out, on MTV2 it would always play with Hypnotize by SOAD and Coming Undone by Korn. This song got me into "actual" music. The 5th grader in me appreciates that. 15 years later, it's still as beautiful as I remember it, that intro, those lyrics. I'm in love.

I was considering not to go too so it’s probably the best decision I’ve made in my life. I’ll never forget when he sang Breaking The Habit, my personal favourite song of all time. He really looked distressed while he was singing, there’s a live upload of the video on KZfaq.

discovered this song via a miraculous: tales of ladybug and chat noir music video, it's very apropos for the main villain, Le Papillon (The butterfly) as he uses magic butterflies to take over people in their moment of emotional turbulence, giving them supervillain powers and make them do his bidding :)
