"Road to..." shows are basically house shows and can be ignored if you are a newcomer (although like WWE house shows they can be lot of fun). I'd start with whichever tournament is the type of wrestling you most like; G1 or BoSJ - singles, World Tag League (WTL) and Junior Tag League - tags. They normally contain a good mixture of stars, vets and youngsters being pushed, plus some imports from other promotions (the G1 is more skewed towards NJPW headliners than the other three for storyline reasons). The tournaments always lead into a big show where the final is being held and you can work from there, either watching another year of the same tournament or whatever is the next tournament in the annual cycle. Alternatively if you just want to see a bunch of great matches between the current headliners, WrestleKingdom and Dominion are the New Japan equivalents of WM and Summerslam and are loaded with title matches.

@@pstubington thanks for the advice. Seems like the WTL is the current tournament going on. So you’re saying Road to Tokyo Dome might be inconsequential shows for the main storylines leading into the big Wrestle Kingdom event? (There’s only so much I can watch in one week given that AEW and WWE is more than enough lol) Im gonna have to screenshot this and start from today’s date. I’ll check cagewrestling to see the no-spoiler match cards as well. I appreciate the heads up.
