Himiway eBike Preventative Fork Maintenance

This little tutorial video discusses the How-to's and why's of cyclery fork maintenance, particularly for suspension forks. While I demonstrating on a Himiway Step-Thru eBike, the same principals and techniques can be applied to standard bikes and beach cruisers as well.
A little 5-10 minute maintenance on a regular schedule can help keep your bike in shape and extend it's overall lifespan and cut down on other repairs costs or replacements down the line.
Finally I discuss and install optional Lizard Skin neoprene fork sleeves for additional protection.

Hi Jayson My Wife Just Got Her White Himiway Cruiser Like Your Wife’s Problem Is Forks Were bent Inward And Cannot Put Front Tire On ? Himiway Says They’ll Send Replacement Forks Problem Is We Went To Some Bike Shops To See If Can Swap Out Forks They Won’t Touch It With A Ten Foot Pole ! Would You Have Any Idea if There’s Any Directions On How To Do it Myself. Can’t Find Picture Of Diagrams ? Owners Manual Has No Pictures And Can’t Find Any PDF Instructions Online

If that fork is either On or Off why are there multiple clicks as You rotate the right side control ? I think that means there are different levels based on where You leave that dial.

Good question. I'm not sure why there are multiple clicks, but it's either on or off, nothing in between. The dial on the other fork is what controls the tension for the fork assembly.

@@jaysonolson33 Still not convinced Why is there a long sweeping arrow with direction pointing to a + sign and a minus - sign also ?? Yes there is also a padlock symbol. If a simple On - Off was the goal it would be set up that way - - Stay tuned I have some experts to check with. I'll be back. Thanks

@@davemarjeast9452 I did extensive riding , measuring , and assessing the different positions after a given number of clicks and have determined there are tiny Yes tiny differences between each position. So wish there were dramatic differences but that might be for way more expensive forks.

I noticed that your left adjustment actually adjusts. Mine just turns and does nothing. I called Himiway and they said it is just for decoration. I have the black stanchions as well. Any thoughts?

Decoration? Maybe the person you spoke to was new? Yes, the left one (from sitting on seat perspective) should do just shy of 5 revolutions. It tightens or loosens the internal spring.

Nice video Jason, it was very informative. I think I want to invest in the lizard skins... but what ever happened to your diorama episode VI? :-)

Well, that was over 10 years ago and during that time I had some trials and tribulations in my personal life. Suffice to say, the diorama is done. Maybe I need to do a 'final' video on that soon because I do get asked about it from time to time.
