Great lecture, your presentation is getting more streamlined. Anyone who has the balls to unscrew a pivot with their thumbnail, says a dull knife that's thin behind the edge will still cut cardboard, and explain a 'consistent design' deserves some kind of award. I didn't think the channel could get better but it has. Outstanding work.

I’m pretty new to sharpening and you said something early on in the video about the edge collapsing from being overheated. I just ran into that with a ZT 0562 in Elmax and thought I was doing something wrong. I sharpened it a total of 3 times and finally got the edge to hold up without collapsing. Glad I saw this. Thanks for the info.

Ive had my xm18 screw loosen on me. I use a very small amount of blue 242 licktite. Great Video. The Gen. 6 Xm18 3.5 slicer is my #1 knife and will always be.

Great video as usual. Love mine I’ve had it over a year. I thread locked mine wasn’t the best idea now it won’t come out and I’m too lazy to heat it up so its fine

Good comparison video. I agree with your conclusions, but I wind up carrying the Medford Proxima or Slim Midi Marauder more than my Hinderers.

best knife channel on youtube. i hate that parroting is keeping knives from evolving. phosphor bronze, tip up only, compression locks.. nick shabazz is keeping titanium flipper framelocks in business lol

I put a 15 degree angle on both my XM18 3.5's then i put a 20 degree on the 30 and my knives are hair poppin sharp and hold an edge well. I have the slicer no choil grind and the spearpoint. The slicer is the best grind, the spearpoint is slicey too, and both have a nice thick tip.

Misspelled carry in your title brother. Thanks for the insights. I keep buying knives, Benchmade, ZT, Spydie, Böker, CS, Microtech but I still think I need one of those to make me really happy.

The skinner model is made for prying i would also say. Also the thumb nail trick i do that my self dont like to much loctite on the pivot screw especially when i fire it off with flipper. Also a free dropper love Hinderer knives rock solid did pick up a 3 inch version wharncliffe just don't really like that the width of the handle is smaller in just by opinion like Hinderer knives big like a brick great vid!

I had a 3.5 a few years ago I didn’t like the knife my finger would hurt , flipper is sharp and there’s sharp jumping your finger hits after you hit the flipper . Sebenza has pointed thumb studs not good but the umnumzaan is pure pleasure .

Great vid as usual. Have you checked out the Chaves Ultramar Redencion Street? I have the tanto version with full carbon fiber show scale. I don't think the tip on the compound grind is as thick as the Hinderer spanto, but it is a robust tip. I am really enjoying the Redencion and I would recommend you check it out.

the stock alone tells you everything you need to know if it can handle reasonable prying forces.... the stock on hinderer reminds me of the 940 but even tougher. also the spydiechief gets stupid sharp

Funny enough how this design was made for prying but if you go to Rick's warranty page says prying is not covered under warranty...

Nice thorough review Nero! I have a twin to your slicer non flipper and came to the same conclusion as to versatility. I couldn't stand the flipper versions and sold them but then again I can't stand flippers in general. Fidget factor is not worth how the flipper tab compromises ergonomics and just plain gets in the way of cutting! As to the jimping on the pinky finger side I don't get it either! Hard cutting just drives those cuts into your tender fingers. I ditched my Slysz Bowie for the same reason-thin sharp scales dig into fingers for hard cuts. People paying Sebenza type money for a Slysz are silly! Just buy a Sebenza-its a much better designed frame lock! Oh yeah, right, Chris Reeve invented the RIL! Go figure!

Gonna add another comment about the ergos. I have smaller and thinner hands and it’s true what you said the Hinderer 3.5 is perfect in my hands in those grips even the 3” is perfect in context my fingers are thin enough to use the choil on it. If you’d like to check out a 3” Spanto for a comparison video or to carry and use for another two week video lmk i don’t carry it hardly at all. Not even sharpened it yet. It is pretty small and somewhat thinner behind the edge

I've always considered these high end folders as novelty knives for rich people to carry. At work i carry a Buck 110 in a belt sheath with real pants Dickies and sometimes a Scar Blades Intruder. Both no jimping hollow ground no non sense. The Intruder has the best finger guard and has been great. I'm no expert but i had a couple Spydercos and other knives people like and i wasnt impressed. I bought a Emerson cqc 7 once and the liner wore accross the blade in 3 months lol thats when i realized my Buck 110 was better. I like your videos though so dont be offended by the rich person novelty knives comment. I mean, nobody that works for a living is gonna cut cardboard with a Sebenza, everyone at my work knows 2 use a razor. I wouldnt use a 110 or any knife for that.

Please do the Socom. Then be a man and get an 2006 version. Plus that thing drops shut with ease and has two coil springs on the lock bar, a ton of tension on it and has no washers. Well it has one wavy washer and that is to slow the blade down so it's not to free feeling. Plus it has a sebenza 21 bearing pivot. That blade is a masterpiece. I have an extra 2011 s 35 vn version(if interested) That is the last of the mohicans. Before they switched to ball bearings.

Just ignore the haters. Idk if you remember this but when the pm2 first came out, the FFG grind was hailed as the best grind ever. People were obsessed with Spyderco and their FFG. I feel like the knife world forgot about the hollow grind. A lot of the knife reviewing world is people who barely use their knives repeating info other reviewers have said.

I'm sorry sir, but I think it's pretty ignorant to say that when someone chokes up on the XM18 that there's No way that they're not going to have any hot spots in the bottom well I could assure you that any grip that I take on my XM 18, the finger grooves fit perfectly

You misspelled 'through' (threw), 'base' (bass), 'were' (where), 'strength' (strenth), 'because' (becaus) and 'handle' (handel) in your description. How can you expect to convince people knives are good when you can't even spell? This knife is overhyped and sucks at cutting due to its thick grind and don't tell me you use a $400 folding pocket knife for actual 'hard use'.

Why would i be trying to convinces anyone about something that doesnt benefit me in any way? And yes im dyslexic. I struggled with reading and writing my entire life. So thank you for Bringing the spelling errors to my attention. Ill fix them when i have time. And lastly ill use this knife for anything i want. I don't care how much it cost. I get enjoyment out of using it. It seems like you could use a little of that in your life. Maybe you should give it a shot sometime.

@@neroknives1828 you are the effing man. I am very dyslexic to. Keep me committed. We think different. They may be able to spell but they don't usually make sense in many other ways. By the way. I am the one that offered to sell or trade you a 2011 socom. It's a different animal and think you will have a whole new love for the Socom.

Eeyy, I'm in the dyslexic club too. Mine is pretty mild now, but it still took a lot of work to get it to a manageable level. I was super lucky that I was diagnosed early and my school had programs to help kids with issues like mine.
