This Climbing and Rigging Podcast has two parts:
1. Ken demonstrates how to use a face notch to cause a limb to swing in a desired direction after cutting.
2. Ken and Rip show how to use a face notch to lift a limb during rigging operations.

Just dropping in to refresh my memory. Going to need both of these techniques on a job tomorrow. Using the homeowner and his father as groundies, I need to be able to explain clearly what needs to happen and when, and why. Thank you for sharing and stay safe!

I recommend this video for tree cutting education to my country Philippines. No arborists here just DIY it really scared for people who don’t have proper and basic technique . Thank you for this video

Yea definitely need to check the oil filter and make sure the oil galleries are clean. That shit drives me crazy. Needs to be oiling good and surgical sharp.

If u loosen your chain a little you will get a quicker cut

Nothing good is going to come of a looser chain while dangling in a tree. This guy is not an idiot, it's purposeful to mitigate failures. Why are people so fucking arrogant.

Love watching these safety nerds starting their saws "the proper way" ... no real tree guy does that... real tree guys just pull the cord while holding the saw with one hand..

these guys were pioneers in our industry. when you practice good, safe habits day in and day out you can get the job done safely and efficiently. Or you can go out like a cowboy and use “production” as an excuse for everything. these guys are the real deal. who are you ?

I learned something again. now i will first practice on a few small trees and then the one in front of the house will come off. it's too long. thank you ken and rip. I'll be very, very careful. PS: i suscribet and learn more.
