Agree, and it has the most famous verse in musical history imo "I'm standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, I'm such a fine sight to see, There's a girl, my lord in a flat bed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me". Never get tired of hearing it.

Take it to the limit was Randy's achilles heel. It was very difficult for him to reach those super high notes live, and he was often pressured into it by Henley and Frey. Fear of missing the notes was a major problem for him and if he failed, he was subject to a lot of emotional abuse.

Bassist Randy Meisner is hitting all those high notes. You wanna hear the greatest vocals, watch the Eagles video live from Capital Center 1977. The song is Take it To the Limit, Randy Meisner on lead vocals, he hits the most incredible high notes ever.

The guitar work on this song is awesome, the rhythm guitars, but it's Don Felder's guitar solo that really stands out. He's got that nasty fuzz tone that is hard to replicate with today's amps, but the solo is so damn tasty. Great song

I agree 100%-he was very underrated-in my top 5 favorite guitarists ever. He had so many riffs that were so memorable. He proves that you don't have to play at high decibels-and shred just to be good-he was great with those smooth memorable riffs that added to the overall structure of the song.

@blackswanstudios6632

A lot of people think that, but no. Only the ones in the harmonies mixed in pretty low are Meisner. The high lead falsetto is Henley all the way through. Henley also sang it live for years, where he sometimes held that crazy high note at the end. At one point he was accused by a journalist of lip syncing that part, and the journalist was invited to watch Henley sing it (from behind the drum kit I believe). A cool move by Henley. Ironically, later when Henley's voice started going down hill, they DID have him lip sync a part live...the bridge of "Waiting in the weeds", where a recorded vocal would suddenly kick in when that very challenging bridge came up. From being less than perfect as always the case live, when the bridge would kick in it would have a studio mic sound all of a sudden, perfectly tuned vocals exactly mathematically in tune on every crazy high note (the album vocal). Also, Henley's albums from 2000 are helped by autotune/pitch correction here and there, but it got especially bad on his latest solo album "Cass County", where it's applied in a very clumsy manner making it hard for me to listen to.

I never knew that about the influences for this song even though I've heard it eight billion times and I owned all of their albums and I own a piano book with the sheet music to all of their hits. I haven't listened to it in so long and it sounded really really good. For something with yet even another feel, that was a big hit for the Eagles, check out Life in the Fast Lane. That Joe Walsh riff at the beginning is iconic.

Thanks for doing One of these Nights. It’s one of my favorite Eagles tracks. The thing that stands out to me about the Eagles is their versatility. I remember hearing their songs on the radio back in the day. I would be thinking “I really like this song. I wonder who sings it?”. Then being surprised it was The Eagles. Desperado, Take it Easy, Hotel California, Take it to the Limit, I Can’t Tell you Why, In the City….All Great Songs and none of them sound anything like the other. Don Felder wrote the bass line intro to this song. Frey played piano on the track in the initial demos. Randy was back in Nebraska. He liked what he heard so the bass line remained. This was more or less the introduction to Felder when he joined them. Olympic Studios in London saw the record there.
