The doctors thought he was "decerebrated". They thought that his fore brain(the part that makes you You!). They were unaware of his ability to perceive. It is a lesson/question un medical ethics(and a commentary on war.. but ethically what to do in terma of "care")

No this was not the controversial album. It was the next one, the Black album when they became more commercial. Personally, i love all stages of the Metallica journey but this was when they were at their peak. This album and Master of Puppets.

Ya I knew for sure some people weren’t the biggest fans of the black album. I think I’ve heard a little bit from most of their albums and I’ve liked all stages as well! I haven’t heard enough to have a favorite album yet though. Anyways thanks for commenting you are much appreciated!

You know what??? My best friend's growing up were HUGE heavy metal fans (meaning they wanted to get lost in a song and forget about life, just like rap...which I was a fan of!!!!!) ...this is a very emotional song for real men (not to slight women) but men go to war on the streets every day (literally and figuratively!) and I've had these thoughts many times in my life (and didn't lose any limbs or laid up in a hospital bed)...in fact the other day I felt like my life was over! If anyone cannot relate and lose themselves in this song, they must have had a great and privileged life!

Hey, young kids and gang members (black or Hispanic) should really appreciate this song, it reminds me of my childhood and all my friends (many of who were shot and killed because of the gangs they were in!!!!!)...but I've never been in war! I have to believe that even privileged kids know what it's like to feel like there is NO HOPE and for God to take me out of my misery. I was NEVER a metal fan and probably not a rap fan. I just love and appreciate any music that talks to me...and this song definitely is one of the most that I've felt in my life!

He loses all 4 limbs, his speech, his hearing and his sight, he uses Morse code by banging his head against the bed, to tell the people in the hospital to kill him, because keeping him alive would only be more torture to him.

One thing other commenters always miss when talking about this movie (which it’s based off of) is the movie is based off of a true story of a soldier called “Joe Bonham”. Anther thing people miss is when the tempo changes it happened right at the part where he’s remembering his father saying “do you remember the Morse Code” that part where they sing “Darkness imprisoning me All that I see Absolute horror I cannot live I cannot die Trapped in myself Body my holding cell Landmine has taken my sight Taken my speech Taken my hearing Taken my arms Taken my legs Taken my soul Left me with life in hell (No, no, no)” Metallica are actually playing and singing in the rhythm of Morse Code “S.O.S”

Ok my dudes...long time metalhead here....Metallica's first four albums changed the game for metal overall. Normally I'd recommend something easier listening for people new to metal, but I'm going to recommend a song by the great Howard Jones on vocals, and Jared dines, whom is a big KZfaqr in the metal community. Jared wrote all the music and Howard takes care of the vocals. The song is called "the blade" by the band Sion. I recommend watching the video while listening. It came out March if this year, and really showcases how great Howard Jones really is as a vocalist.

If there is one MetallicA fan that said this was when they fell off, they need to chime up. I think most MetallicA fans dipped on Load/Re-load/st anger. I liked load/re-load, but i get it. MetallicA was Metallica through the black album which game on in 1991. Lovin this reaction!

The people who hated on them after the black album weren't real fans. If you love a band...you have to evolve with them. They can't just keep playing the same sounding songs on every album. Either evolve with them or quit listening. It's that simple.

You guys nailed it....! You're spot on when you said the guitars are like "gunshots", like a submachine gun. Even longtime listeners don't hear it.....they just hear hard guitars. Nothing wrong with missing the audible queues (this song kills it, regardless)....but you were on top of It! Should you decide to stick with Metallica, their live performances are next level when it comes to the energy levels. "Master Of Puppets" has some next-level bars as well. Blunt and "in-your-face" but profound at the same time. If you want those views and subs to add up....keep diving down the Metallica rabbit hole. Us fans will love you for it....and hopefully you'll get off on the music and artistry. Liked and sub'd for more. Hope to hear more Metallica from you!

Us main Metallica the first 3 albums are their best But I love And Justice for All The Black Album is not half bad After that u can feel they have lost their souls Yes the passing of the late Cliff Burton was & is still hard on them Cliff was their driving force Go though & listen to Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets U can hear not only in the back ground But also he stands up front & rides right there with both James & Kirk on guitar as well
@chrisvandament6338

100% agree. Ride the Lightning at the top then Master of Puppets/ Kill em All tie for second and Justice for All after that👎, but still one of the best metal bands of all time.

It's like this: This was off their 4th studio album. Just about ANYTHING off their first four albums is fire (except the song Escape, that one was forced by the label to make them more "radio friendly" back in the 80's but it failed, and they didn't really want to do it anyway but complied). But anything else off their first four albums is GOLD. Those albums themselves were all Platinum. Their 5th album, self-titled (often referred to as The Black Album due to the album cover) was still good but not as good as their 1st four. After that, they sort of fell off.........until their latest one several years ago called Hardwired....To Self-Destruct, which brought back a lot of their old elements and was generally regarded as a success. Enjoy your Metallica journey fellas. You only have about 50 more GREAT songs to react to (maybe more but who's counting, right?).

Huh?!? WHY would you listen to their other stuff with plenty of massive heavy fast beats then slows down then comes back up….. Then state IN THIS video that you think people started thinking Metallica started sucking cuz this song has THAT EXACT tempo as say oh MASTER OF PUPPETS? In 86? Ah what? Why would that MAKE ANY SENSE?? You can’t think those who love metal are that moronic as to hate a favorite band cuz they have slow PARTS in some songs 🙄🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 we wouldnt and don’t. You both seem smart so kinda blown away to hear you state this like ya did. 😳 So NO this song nor this album was when most ACTUAL FANS (not radio fans) started going Yea they’ve lost it. That was the godawful corporate weak black album.
