Its amazing how pain in the hip can shut the whole body down. Puts you in a constant sympathetic dominant state and affects your mental outlook dramatically. Been there, not good. Upright deals with the cause of the problem and modern medicine just wants to treat the symptoms. The fix is not for the lazy, you have to actively go through the process of getting the return of function to the hip. Its tough but it is the long term solution.

Thanks to all of you, I, too, am on the journey to physical freedom from years of chronic pain, and commit to my practice every day. I've also been working with Mitch and have heard Troy's story through his Dose of Humanness podcast. You guys give amazing hope to those who feel trapped in their bodies. Movement is life. Thanks, Matt.

I just found your channel and I think it's gonna be a lifesaver. I've been having problems with my hip for a few months now and have been going down the Doctor/MRI/? path - A few months ago I realized if I started stretching it might help, and so started stretching without really any focus or knowledge other than just the basic stretches people do before running. Finding your hip specific stretches has been really helpful, even after just 2 weeks, and I'll keep you posted with my progress.

I did the bilateral hip arthroscopies in mid December for fai and the labrum tears because my boss wanted me to get them both done so I could come back to training camp in august. Wouldn’t recommend this surgery for the faint of heart. PT every day, relearning new motions with the hips, newly shaped hips, still the clicking sensation which is just a mental battle. It’s only been 5 weeks for me personally, and yes I can walk and I’m making progress, but if it weren’t for reffing the USHL and being in the development program I wouldn’t have done the surgery, the only reason I did it is to make a run at the AHL and the NHL within the next five years, otherwise it’s not worth it.

The weak muscle / tight muscle paradigm is Interesting. Perhaps the old adage “pain is weakness leaving your body” has merit.

Wow!!, Troy journey, sounds like the mirror of mine journey I am going through, the whole interview I was like yes that is me, yes that what I felt and did and doing. Matt I have also invested in the healthy hips program 1 and 2 last year and began doing the program as well, however I stopped(I haven't stopped moving and stretching my body but I ended up experimenting my body and many theories to result I have seen positive results and also problems that keep coming and going. I have been down many avenues to point of been overwhelmed and in a dark place mentally. One question do you offer video calls for advise and support? Shane

It would’ve been a tad bit more helpful if you all could’ve told us some of the things he did to get to where he’s at today with that being said I want to say I have bilateral hip impingement it was something I was born with like him they didn’t find it until I was about 38 I also had my first surgery in 2015 I had a second one in 2016 I’m a lot better than I was before but I still have a lot of pain… If I walk a couple miles I’m in pain when I bend over my hips hurt what the surgeon told me was my labrum was really tore up in there it look like ground beef he was unable to repair it he just had to scrape it out… they told me that I will eventually need a hip replacement more than likely I will eventually need a hip replacement I’ll wake up some days and my hips are really really tight the muscles are weak I know that because I’ve been trying to strengthen my hip and glute muscles since the first surgery

I’ve got hip impingement with moderate arthritis in right. It’s effecting my back as well on the right QL area. Glute bridges and core work everyday. Anything with weights irritates . Can’t see myself ever going back to normal. Seems like a hip replacement is the only way out.
@missBloomification
@missBloomification 2 жыл бұрын
don't do it! it's not the arthritis causing the pain, it's the muscles

Why didn’t they just do a hip replacement?
@Uprighthealth

Hip replacements have a limited serviceable life. Giving a young person a hip replacement means they'll have to undergo at least one (if not more) hip replacements in the future.

Can’t help but feel this channel is disingenuous. There’s plenty of people where FAI surgery is life changing. This bro doesn’t sound like a candidate for real.

I agree. I had the procedure last week. I have better range of motion. For me it was the torn labrum that was causing the pain and lack of range of motion.

@@Mr.Majestic77 I had a FAI surgery, labrum fix and hip flexor strengthening. Recovery is going well. I’m 6 months out. Still feel discomfort and still feel pain and stuff sometimes but it’s way better than before surgery. It’s another 3 months till I’m back to closer to normal. Recovery ain’t easy. Therapy is super important. DONT DO CLAMSHELLS

@@NortsGhoul Thanks. I had my surgery last Friday and today would have been a week. I was told not to do any activity for 8 weeks from the initial surgery and I have follow up appointment next week. I take it that's when physical therapy will be prescribed. I don't how I got FAI. Maybe my years being Active Duty United States Navy & Active Duty United States Army. After my recovery, I will attempt to sign back up into the United States Army (the U.S. Army Reserves). Although it only been a week after my surgery, I can feel the difference. I can now actually bend and lift my leg without pain and overall range of has tremendously improved. This has been my issue for at least 6 months. I ignored the pain until it became too much. The PA indicated that my hip labrum was in bad shape and the tear was severe needed a lot of work from the surgeon. What are clamsheels?
@NortsGhoul
@NortsGhoul Жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Majestic77 clam shells are like a resistance band exercise when you lay on your side, bend your legs and open your top leg like a clam shell. My PT started day the first possible day after surgery. I had surgery on a Friday’s and started on a Monday. I went 2 times a week for 10 weeks straight.

@@NortsGhoul ok. I did those for my PT months prior to my surgery. Thanks. I will sure to avoids those with next go at PT.
