This week we went out to a frozen river and defrosted the ground with a propane torch. We spend the night in a hot tent on New Year's Eve 2020.

We set up a recirculating sluice and run that dirt and some other dirt we brought home from the same place months ago. See you next week. Peace.

My brother has the bigger version of that tent. We use it every year on our salmon fishing trip and love it

Yeah, they make a 20' long one. In the winter you must need a big stove to heat it.

That's a wicked nice tent, guys - cozy. I like the idea of putting a rug inside. I'm wondering if there's an episode where the wind blows everything sideways like we see in the beginning of each show? That reminds me of camping with my Dad many moons ago in an "Umbrella" tent, and during the night a tornado touched down on the opposite side of the lake where we were bivouacked. Lifted our aluminum boat up onto the shore, etc. great memories! Enjoyed this one, very relaxing & entertaining, thank you...

You need to put a hole in the floor of the bubble so you can put it over the whole you are digging out of. Stay warm. Love all your video's. Happy New Year!

How much did tent cost? I am making one out of old tarp i don't need. But I am not sure how I'm going to make door zipper or Velcro it to shut. Am headed up as soon as I get back packs done, and tent done. Couple days i hope.

That is a Cabalas Alakanak Outfitter tent. They sell for about 1200.00 but I got this one as a return and it cost me 800.00. Proper ventilation is important with stove tents or you will end up with a lot of condensation inside. Where are you camping at?

I enjoyed this one so much I watched it again. It won't be long before you are doing a 2022 new years. I don't think I will be getting a $800.00 tent. But I did score a lot of canvas painting tarps for $2.00 @ a yard sale this summer. I am in process of waterproofing them, then I have to decide how to create a winter tent. I like how u start with a pole in the center and the side rods pull the whole tent straight from outside. My first attempt at the winter tent failed as the new plastic tarps are cheap junk. They leak. Even new ones don't last.

Enjoyed the video. When you get enough gold buy a hammer drill with a chisel bit. It'll make short work of the frozen ground. :)

Thanks for watching Bill. I have one but the material needs to be thawed to pan it or classify it. I would end up having to take 4 times the material back to camp and then thaw it out there. I think a much bigger torch like the ones used for brush burning...Kinda like a flame thrower...at least it would be more fun. Thanks for commenting. peace.
