Y’all gotta take Drake OUT of top 5. He was considered that due to his consistency and work;however, upon learning how he stifles up-and-coming artists and steals their work, steals styles and flows from established poppin artists, and doesn’t write a lot of his work, you cannot keep him top anything!!! What we were once judging is a façade and changes everything. It’s now disrespectful to keep him close to any artist that doesn’t do the same.

I agree 100%. If Drake fans had a family member or friend who Drake screwed over, they would have a different take on it. They just can’t understand how much Drake has hurt so many people. And the people he put on, it was for his benefit. Drake doesn’t do anything out of the kindness of his heart. It all boils down to money.

Drake above Nas is fkn crazy. 30 YEARS of excellence. Drake got 15 years in. 10 of them is “Drake.” The only person with more longevity at a High Level IS JayZ. Jay went on his first tour in 1989, bruh. And he can drop a, “God Did” tomorrow and be the talk of the moment. 35 Years is unheard of. He’s also helped put-on on more high level artists than any other emcee. To be The GOAT its more than rapping or hits. It’s the Positive impact of your presence. It’s culture. It’s who you put on. It’s your influence. It’s how many other artists look up to you. The way rappers make albums was changed forever by Nas - ILLmatic. He changed the genre, forever. Drake and everybody else makes albums after Nas’ influence. Jay and Nas are #1 and #2 in any order. Undisputed. Nobody has been high level respected longer. Eminem came in the game rapping like AZ, who Nas put on. We know AZ from ILLmatic and The Firm.

I don't think Drake is one of the top 5, in terms of skill or in accomplishments. Drake rules popular music, which is his main qualification for any "all-time great" list. In my opinion, his competition is simply far weaker than what the top artists of the past were dealing with. He is just benefitting from an era where the "real" rappers don't make mainstream hits, and the mainstream hitmakers don't "really" rap. I firmly believe that if he was dropped into the early 2000's rap environment, he would be middle of the pack at best. Does anyone really think that Drake would be the dominant artist in a field that contained greats like Em, Jay, Wayne, and Outkast, along with mainstream radio staples that were still rappers actually rapping, like 50 Cent, TI, etc.? Mid-00's and earlier, he is not even close to the dominant artist of those eras.
@SweetieMs
@SweetieMs Ай бұрын
That’s what bothers me about people who keep putting Aubrey in the top… he didn’t have the same kind of competition AND IT WAS BECAUSE labels would make sure he hopped on songs with all his potential competitors, and many artists who didn’t do that got suppressed in marketing budgets to work their music. Great episode! I know what Elliot was trying to say about Donald Glover but he's definitely hip hop. His roots and creativity are all over the place but he's a creative, an artist....He's eccentric & he's hip hop. I hope he puts out a project with nothing but bars just for the naysayers lol

I don’t agree with Elliot. Donald Glover wanting to be recognized at the BET awards has nothing to do with hip hop and him going in different areas of his creativity does not mean he is not hip hop.

Fair. Even though Drake got his head taken off two times in the last 6 years, he still had a very successful decade. With that said, I don't have much respect for him at all, nor do I like his music that much so he's nowhere near a top 5 for me.
