Hirano San was the lovely driver who took us around Kyoto, Japan. This is a film I made of the day.
I was there with 5 other shooters (which makes it much harder to shoot as you are tripping over each other!) as guests of Pansonic to test out their 95% finished Panasonic. AF100/101. We were there to give them honest feedback and thoughts on their new camera, not just wow, great camera! Really great idea to do this.

Philip, you have such an amazing eye. Your compositions are beautiful and that camera does a wonderful job capturing your brilliance. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed your photography here -- and what a great choice for the music!!! It's all put together so well! Thanks for posting this. I'm dying to get an AF100 myself, and this really closed the deal for me. Now, I just have to sell my HVX and M2 rig.

I miss Kyoto very much....the city itself is so photogenic. This video is bringing back that wonderful feeling i had when i was there.

What a wonderful shallow depth of field and warm colors! Almost the best "film camera" in the terms of price-performance ratio! If I had enough money, I'd buy it immediately...

Viewers, set the youtube video to 1080p sometimes it auto knocks it down to 360p.

I'm excited to see what filmmakers do with this camera when it comes out. Philip, do you think you could do a test soon to specifically test how the sensor's rolling shutter? An action movie with mustaches!

Beautiful images & composition, as expected! However, like the Sony AG10, this Pani AF100 looks like video. Great video, but this camera isn't even "film-ish" to coin a phrase. I had really high hopes for it, and will be testing it myself later this month. But if in the hands of master Philip Bloom it can't overcome the clipped out highlights and murky blacks of video, it might not be the killer cam we all want, even w/ its other great features.

Nice film, thanks for posting so we can see the Panny 101 in action. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can answer. 1. What lens were you using at the beginning (0:17)? 2. From about 4:30 on you shot night exteriors. Was this natural light, or did you have to light any of these shots? What were the setting of the camera when you were shooting (any and all shots)? Thanks!

@SeanFilms Plug in an XLR, connect a BNC, hold it like a video cam (skateboarding, etc), control the audio levels, achieve a more professional look, among many other things?

@onjoFilms It just did. Haha I kid. but at the same rate, I still don't understand what I could do with the AF100 that I couldn't do with a 7D or a mark II...

@onjoFilms It's essentially a HPX body with the ability to accept EOS comparable lenses. I think you're too late!

I would like to know how you get the ultra slow motion at 3:42 since I cannot achieve the same results with the HVX or HPX at 60 fps and further slowing in post? Granted I think Vegas handles speed variation better than FCP but there must be a way to get a shot beautifully slow like that without a high speed camera (as is evidenced by that shot).

Hi im looking to buy (canon 5d mk 2, or panasonic ag af 101 or sony z7u.) i am based in uk england and i need the camcorder for documentary and music video. i want an easy camera with one allround lense and recorded in sd card. witch one is the best. every time i switch the camera on even in home family events i want it to look like celebrity cinema movie style. thanks what do u recommend?

CA is all over the place. And most of the highlights have a purple-ish hue. It makes the pictures look purplish and bluish. Nice cinematography though...
