“I’ve never had to explain a dæmon before; it’s a part of me.”
I don’t think the show’s entirely done them justice, so this is a tribute to the concept more than anything else.

I have no idea what our world would be like if we do have Daemons. Would it be better, or worse?

I certainly would say better. I would absolutely love to have my Daemon be corporeal and I'd love them dearly.. To me personally, it would outmatch some of the portrayed risks in the movie and this adaptation, or even in the other triology books Mister Pullman wrote and is still writing. You'd always have a companion, someone who knows you like NO other living being in your life. You'd be together for litterly all your life and always have someone to talk to, to hug for comfort or to play with. Not to mention, some very nifty extra senses through your Daemon ;)

Do you use Sony Vegas for editing your videos ?

OpenShot Video Editor cause it's free to use. Been sticking with an older version though cause the new one's got massive problems with the video preview being stuttery AF.

@@jamma.77 Oh ! Well i don’t know if you can help me out with my problem but I’m still gonna try though . As you may probably know the reason why I’m asking this is because i use this software to edit my videos and i wanted to make some edits about His Dark Materials so i downloaded all the episodes from season 1 and 2 but it appears those files are in MKV and my software doesn’t allow me to drag those files on the timeline . Just to let you know i knew Sony Vegas wouldn’t allow me doing that but i wanted after i downloaded the episodes in MKV to convert those files in MP4 with the VLC app i have . But thing is even though it says MP4 after converting those files i still can’t drag them into the timeline . Do you have any solutions for that ?

@@HermioneGranger-sr4vz Well, OpenShot works fine with MKV files, so you could drop them into its timeline and then export them as an MP4 - I did test the newest version of OpenShot, and despite the issues I was having with the editor preview, the exported videos still play fine. If you want to get rid of the show's music and just keep the dialogue, an extra step would be to load the files you downloaded into Audacity (you'll need to install an extension for the program so it can import audio from video files - manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_ffmpeg_for_windows.html ), then, assuming they've got surround sound/5.1 channel audio, mute all the channels except for the one containing the dialogue (there's still some music in those tracks for His Dark Materials, or at least there was when I extracted the audio from my Blu-Ray rips, but it's a lot less intrusive than it was before), export that as a new audio track, and sync it up with the show's visuals (you'll need to adjust the start frame of the audio track by a tiny amount - general rule for me seems to be to make it 0.05 higher than the start frame of the visuals, but I've still had to fine tune it in a few cases) before exporting the MP4 file (just remember to mute the original audio first - I've forgotten to do that a few times, and exporting the full episodes takes a long time). After that, if you want to produce some assets clips that are more manageable than full-length episodes, you can use the trim feature of the Film & TV app (should be the default video player for Windows 10) to save a set of shorter clips from the full export.

Wait so there’s daemons are like there’s thought and feelings and emotions but lives on the outside of their body and there’s a link between them? Wait so if they get separated from their thought feelings and emotions it can hurt?

You've asked me this before, and as I explained to you then, a daemon is a person's soul; they're part of each other - that's why they feel pain when their daemons are further away, and why it's such a violation for someone to touch another person's daemon. As for why they live on the outside, the only answer I can give is that it's how things are in their world - you can nitpick it to hell and back if you want, but there's no detailed, in-universe reason for it, it's just part of the story. Honestly, the whole concept's done way more justice in the books than it has been onscreen.

@@jamma.77 I agree with the justic to the books. I missed the importance of Daemons sometimes in the series.. In the movie, it was a little more shown but both can't tip to the books itself. The way Pullman writes everything.. It's special, can't explain it but I am just so incredibly impressed by his way of words and describing things and feelings etc.

HOW How can Lyra be pan! Does that man that every time she attacks someone she’s is pan! How is that connected
@Fairygoblet
@Fairygoblet Жыл бұрын
It's a little bit difficult to explain, but basically, daemons represent a person's soul, making them a part of their human. While our souls are on the inside, people in Lyra's world have them externalized. Because they possess physical form, they are capable of feeling pain, and because they are capable of feeling pain and are connected to their owners, they can feel the pain of their humans and vice versa. The last volume in the trilogy explains the connection better, but I don't want to spoil anything for you. Pan is basically an aspect of Lyra which is why they don't act exactly the same
