Anyone else notice that Pheobe Waller-Bridge voices John Parrys daemon? Anyone else who will get the Fleabag connection. Gets how freaking beautiful it is. To know she is voicing his soul on this show 💗.

I'll just say it, the show did this reunion better then the book. I do agree that the Bloodmoss should have been used and this whole season has had little to no signs of John struggling from being out of his own world which is vital to the end of this whole story later on, but the fact that they had a proper chance to talk alone made this far more emotional and impactful. And I actually like that it wasn't a lovescorned witch that kills John but instead a surviving agent of the Majesterium. I think this was an overall improvement on the story.

Couldn't agree more The movie made it feels much more natural, the way how it should be when a long-lost father being reunited with his son. Just a really good decision :')

I'm torn because the lovescorned witch feels a bit off but on the otherhand a surviving magesterium agent undercuts Lee's sacrifice to me. Possibly if they've had him destroy their zepplin like he does in the book and really show he broke this group.

John Parry was born in our world -- Will's world. He was an explorer and left to find an anomaly someplace in the north when Will was a baby. John stumbled in Lyra's world through one the windows scatered around and left behind by the Suble Knife. He thus found his daemon and was taken in as a shaman with the Tartars, and renamed Stanislaus Grumman, and he settled there for years. He even got sick after about a decade, because when one settles in a different world, the different energies of it makes us sick.

I like the show’s version of the reunion a thousand times better than the book. In the book they rarely got a good glimpse of each other until the very end cause it’s night and John was killed out of spite by a witch he turned down because he refused to betray his loyalty to his wife. In the show, they see each other in full view and he sacrificed himself to save his son. Plus he explains that he did try to make his way back but he never could, which is something he NEVER said to Will in the book, not even in the third one!

It was a very good season as they spent time developing the characters, especially Lyra and Will. It doesn't just happen on its own it's has to be written properly and that was the beauty of season two for me. I've watched so many shows were basically the writers stop developing characters and you are left feeling like its a different show. But it was really well done overall. Plus the added on scenes between Mrs Coulter/Lee and Mrs Coulter/Mary Malone.

I'm not gonna lie, his death was so cringe. Could have been done better. It could have been more dramatic and sudden instead of the one we got which showed that he had more than enough time for him to grab will and both jump out of the way. Instead, all he does is hug will, turn him around, and wait for the bullet. What should've happened was him shouting NO! and then hugging will before turning around. Then, the bullet flying straight at him and we see him groan from the pain. But...we didn't and this one just felt...Hmmm...Let's just say it pulled me out of the immersion.
