His First Limit of Ducks Ever! | Nova Scotia Duck Hunting 2022

Mixed bag duck hunt on public land in Nova Scotia, Canada. On this trip, Charles shot his first limit of ducks ever! After miscalculating the morning tides, we ended up walking over tidal flats to make it to the duck blind for sunrise. When we showed up to the duck blind, we noticed that a recent hurricane had damaged it. By salvaging old wood and gathering spruce limbs, we constructed a DIY duck blind by brushing in the old one. To limit weight, we only used a dozen duck decoys, which was comprised of GHG and Avian X black duck floaters. In total, we shot seven black ducks, two green-winged teal, and a beautiful blue-winged teal.
Guns used: Benelli Super Vinci (12 Gauge Kicks Highflyer Modified) and Browning A5 (12 Gauge Kicks Highflyer Modified).
Ammunition Used: Kent Fasteel 2.0 (3in #3 Steel Shot).

I’ve recently been wanting to get hunting and doing more out doors stuff, I haven’t even been fishing since I was a kid. These videos help in the first step to sorting out the things I need to do. I don’t have anyone to show me anything 32 years old and I’m way behind. It’s hard to start anything when you have to teach yourself everything. Keep up with the content! It’s important for those of us trying to find community.

Glad you are enjoying the content! It's never too late! I never started young with duck hunting. The odd one shot from time to time while paddling rivers in my canoe. It became a new found passion within the past several years. To start, all you need is half a dozen decoys, a cheap duck call, and spare time to get out. Fishing is the same concept! Looks like a good wind for ducking. Glad you found a solid ammo brand to work with. They are far superior to Winchester or Federal.

Hey Logan. I used Kent lead shotshells for small game for years. Used to buy them at JD's in Prospect, but that was many years ago. I liked those shells but I have not been able to find them for a very long time. Bought all my ammo over the past few years at Rons Army Navy. Federal and Winchester but I sure would like to get some Kent. Nov 16th cant get here quick enough.

With the ammo shortage across the country I'm hearing most ammunition is hard to come by. Kent has been excellent to work with and I love their Fasteel. Last bunny season I ran some of their diamond shot (lead) and the stuff wholloped. Hoping to get my hands on some more for this year! 😉

@@Huntingpros yes! Just saw that it’s open until the 17th I believe in my area, what would be the best way to learn the different types of ducks, I know it mentions scoters and eifers? Assuming there are photo guides online…

@@drvelocci For the most part, you'll be seeing puddle ducks (mallards, black ducks, teal, etc) unless you hunt ocean where there is open water and channels. You may shoot the odd merganser or bufflehead. I'd recommend just googling "dabbling ducks" and looking at charts.
