Mistakes in public are normally celebrated widely here. If someone falls or a plate etc drops, loud cheers can be heard and lots of sarcastic comments. You learn from a toddler to expect it. 😆

The ribbing he got from the audience for messing up reminds me when, as a local teenager, I was a Table waiter at one of the prestigious Oxford Colleges. Us waiters used to challenge each other to see how many plates of food could be carried out to serve (these plates were side by side, on an ordinary tray stacked and separated by metal rings one on top of the other) the record was 18. However, when some lad dropped his tray with such a loud clatter, food everywhere, all the students in the hall cheered out and clapped just like MIckey's audience - so it don't matter what social background you're from - I guess it's just a British thing

Glad you found Mickey finally, I did recommend him a while back, check his view on the French !!. We both come from the same part of London's East End (Bethnal Green & Stepney) so a lot of places he mentions I recognise, Zapion Fish Bar and The Venus Steak House (Bethnal Green Road). We both J'd in the same pub as well (different times though !)

As for the editing that fuck up out, be wary of that. sometimes they accidentally do it early in the tour, realise they get a big laugh out of it and keep it in the script. I remember the live comedy show Bottom (check that out btw), they had fuck ups in their all the time. it was part of the script a lot of times.

the banding together you mentioned comes from how we are brought up to laugh at things as covered by Micky in one of his other clips. When you are born in Britain you have to learn to give and take your insults, its all just good fun and banter and generally nothing is off limits.

Have you caught the Scottish Sitcom Still Game, its raw Scottish comedy ,set in a rundown part of Scotland with industry all gone housing in decline , and very little work, and the way people pull together even when they cant stand each other sometimes , because each other is all they have , because when it comes down to it there a community , [ the Scots are known to be tight fisted mean , ] which is the butt of so many of the jokes , you need to watch from the beginning .
