Beautiful old historic mansion built between 1824-1827 with connections too Thomas Jefferson and some interesting history. Which I will leave out to save the location in hopes that someday it is restored. Thank you for watching!

Me too. But it would take about a million bucks, I think. There was a BBC program about restoring historic homes in the UK, some as old as this house and some as much as 500 years older. Some people were doing almost all the work and spending literally decades with a tight budget. Other people were hiring experts and it was costing literally millions.

These are too far gone From mold to bug infestations to settling/cracking foundations & brickwork to lead plumbing to knob&tube wiring... What would be a 'wiser' thing to do would be to salvage anything worthwhile (e.x. nice wood), get the FLOOR PLANS (blueprints) and build new, with new (better) materials. Yes, materials science and technology is much better today; "design" not so much. But you can use the original floor plans. Win-win.

It looks as if someone was in the process of remodeling it as I seen several rooms that had nearly been finished and heat and cooling was being put in as well as electricity. There's also random used and unused construction materials all over the home and the pull down attic door was brand new so my guess would be someone ran out of money on this project, may have happened during the housing collapse that left many many losing their homes. It is so very sad to view these urban explored homes as they leave me so sullen that I actually have to limit my views to only 2-3 a month or less. I used to explore myself but I found as a sensitive that the experience would sometimes leave me in an almost depressed state for many many months so I leave it to these guys. Thanks Kappy

This house was built to last. You can see the solidity demonstrated by the floors on the second floor holding the weight of those tubs, sinks and toilets with not a hint of sagging. If it had been properly maintained, it would still be in use. Too many times elderly people don't have the money to properly maintain their historic homes. By the time they are gone, there's a lot of damage that could have been avoided. I've lived in old homes, it takes a good deal of money, time and work to keep them up. I wish that whoever had started rehabbing this house had been able to finish it.

What a beautiful treasure! It's sad that it is left to crumble and fall down! I wonder what it was like in the beginning and what kind of people lived there....thanks for taking me along... The wood details are gorgeous! Floor to ceiling windows are gorgeous too! They don't make em like that anymore...that's for sure! Can't believe nobody wants to bring this beauty back to life...it still has life left in her!!! I'm just in awe...😊❤️😊

Looks like someone started to restore, but stop for some reason. Country side looks like VA. I'm from North Carolina so always interested in Southern homes. The flemish bonding brick work is beautiful; wanted that when we built our home, but too expensive because the bricks have to be broken in half--I really love the look. Enjoy your videos!

This beautiful house in 1824 USA!! Most parts of the world at that time have never even seen a proper house much less as grand as this 1.

Thanks Kappy for all the research and time you put into these videos. The artisans that built this beauty had such skill and pride in their work. Builders today, even of the multi million dollar homes, don't have the skill and pride. Hope the pendulum will swing back to doing excellent work.
