My husband got the privilege to drive this locomotive when it was restored in North Judson indiana on its way to Fort Wayne indiana he had a lot of fun to experience a footplate cab ride throttle experience at the throttle doing a wide open throttle at 85mph high ball as he called it in trains term of going very fast from North Judson indiana all the way full head of steam to Fort Wayne indiana museum

Trust me. I got unlucky with the people in my area. Other places people weren't in anyone's shot and were respectful.

The sid that was filmed was the fireman side of the locomotive. The engineer side of the cab is on the right side of the locomotive.

In this situation 765 was as full throttle as you can get. They have the engine overfired hence the super black smoke and relief valve blowing off in an attempt to get every bit of horsepower to the track. The call was even given to the dispatcher that a stall was imminent and to send assistance. Luckily this is one of the best crews in the business and it wasn't needed.

Oh. But those idiots are more important than any one else.

90% of what is coming out of that stack is steam. More pollution comes out of your mouth.

During huge smokie locos, the atmosphere has not polluted. Today we have smoke free engines but.. Where is the difference.

They were intentionally overfiring the locomotive to steam it alittle past the blowoff valve increases boiler pressure and then HP so the train didnt stall it was overloaded on a one run move and climbing a very steep hill one of the if not the steepest on that line... Once over the hill they fired normally and smoke turns light grey...
