Am I the only person who finds this man fascinating, and somewhat heroic here? He did terrible things, yes, but he also did some wonderful things. Byron did something very few people have ever done, he lived to the extreme. No, he LIVED. He was alive, and spent his entire life in pursuit of making each moment count. Whether that was in decadence, or in romantic heroics.

Byron was not the most saintly man in history, his literature however is great. While there is a lot about him that is deplorable, he was a rebel in a very conservative and harsh society and explored his identity and creativity without restraint. In many respects he was a man to be praised and reviled.

Lord Byron Learned Armenian Language ...and created English Armenian Dictionary (Armenology)...A language difficult phonetically... It is never mentioned in any part of those series...I wonder why...? If anyone knows about let us know...!

Yes I have been there once in an excursion, but the also road to Athens from the Northwestern part of the country passes near by that town.

waaaaaaaaay over-simplified... They really should've mentioned his passion for swimming. Also, there are many more portraits of Annabella, Shelley, Claire, Caro Lamb, and the man himself out there than were used...

Byron never really died, my usher to the door of romanticism.

yron lived in Genoa until 1823, when, growing bored with his life there he accepted overtures for his support from representatives of the movement for Greek independence from the Ottoman Empire.[citation needed]On 16 July, Byron left Genoa on the Hercules, arriving at Kefalonia in the Ionian Islands on 4 August.

I think it was the fact that he was such a magnetic personality & of course people always look for heroic figures. In terms of psychology it was just projection of ideals in his face. Being Greek I know, for example, how important was to my people his fighting for the independence of Greece. With his influence he could change the public's view towards the revolution & also encouraged my compatriots that a worthy person was supporting their cause. But he really must have been an idealist himself.

Great, do you think you could send me photos of the place, if you happen to have any?? That'd be wonderful for my students' performance.

Mesolongi (or missolonghi as wikipedia spells it) is not an island. It it is a small sea-shore town surrounded by sand. It is also one of the places where salt is produced. It is located in North-western Greece lower than Corfou.

Hello, where do you live in Greece? I'd like to celebrate Byron's bday on 22 Jan. at school, so I'm looking for inspiration. I'm so curious about the island where Byron died, do you know anything about the island?

lol hate to say this but this biography sucks... it pretty much did not mention his skill and motivation as a poet, his believes/ideology and other characteristics that made him a great poet. instead, this whole video is filled with his obsession with women (even without mentioning how women affected his poetry) and a weak description of his involvement/influence in the Greek revolution. what kind of person is he exactly, besides being a pervert?

I like to think of myself as the ultimate romantic hero. Screw Byron!

Quite redundant and misleading documentary. Especially that Mina Gorji produces an enormous amount of vacuous truisms. A romantic poet seen through the eyes of romantic aficionados - preaching to the choir at best.
