Cape Hatteras' lighthouse was my Grandma's favorite. She loved lighthouses in general but Hatteras was her absolute love and she had more decorations depicting it than any other in her home. I've actually taken the Hatteras lighthouse design and am currently trying to replicate it as closely as I can true to real life in Minecraft, complete with a rotating beacon light. Decided to look up some history on the building while I'm busy designing and constructing mine in game, and found your video. Well done, very informative.

I really enjoyed your video. I absolutely love the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Anyone who has visited my home sees that it is a shrine to this much beloved structure. I have climbed it many times. I was among those very much opposed to moving the lighthouse, fearing that it would be destroyed during the move, but in the end, it all worked out. I remember watching the move via a webcam and they just pushed it right along the tracks. I have not visited the lighthouse since its move to the new location but I'm nearing retirement age and hope to retire in Buxton, where I'll be able to see the lighthouse every day.

Once I make it to that time of my life, I would love to apply to caretake the Ocracoke lighthouse. What a wonderful opportunity that would be! I have been working on my next video for the last number of months, which is unrelated to the Outer Banks, but I will be posting a lot of content on the area. I hope to make a new channel and transfer these videos to that one. Feel free to subscribe!

Very cool, thank you so much for the comment. I hope the weather cooperated and it was everything she thought her dream wedding would be. The Outer Banks is absolutely a special place, highly impactful. I hope we all fight to keep it that way.

We went to Cape hatteras the Summer of 1978, and at that time, some stones from the foundation of the previous 1803 lighthouse were still there....That is all long gone now.

I used to camp at the old light house ruin..I saw on an old map there was a state park there before the national park service took it over

Does anyone know why there is a 2nd inner short railing at the top as seen in the video?
@TheDrinkPackage2 жыл бұрын
I apologize for taking so long to respond. I am not positive as to why that railing is there. There are 2-3 reasons, and none of those reasons made sense. Hopefully someone else can chime in with the actual reasoning.

moving it was just another stupid tourist dollar short term fix..all they had to do was build another jetty..yes I am an enviromentalist...no it wouldn`t have hurt anything
