This special explores the deep-seated racism behind images that reflected Jim Crow - black face, Aunt Jemima, and many others. While U.S. culture is trying to correct history by taking down confederate statues, banning the confederate flag, and removing images like Aunt Jemima from packages, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.
Disclaimer: Robin Hamilton hosts this documentary special that explores the ugly racial history of Jim Crow in the United States of America. This special aired on the Tribune television station during Black History Month.

I always wondered what a person from India or any other part of the world who had darker skin did when faced with Jim Crow? I assume that a person from India was not considered “colored”… but I don’t know for sure. I’ve known dark skinned Italians. What did they do when approaching a drinking fountain when visiting the south? It was such bizarre time in US history. I’m glad I was born well after it was over.

Jim Crow black America and culture cultivated during that time was key in some type of culture identity we didn't have leaving slavery. We had r strongest families, marriage, communities, morals, values, were r most industrious and resourceful. Internally we were a better people than we r now.

beautiful video. The segregation was a horrible thing which only made it where we never got to learn about the other group. Whites could not learn about blacks, and blacks could not learn about whites. which lets our minds on both sides make up what to believe. Sad that even today we are trying to encourage segregation. college campuses creating spaces where whites are not allowed. only POC can be part of the classes. days where they want "no whites allowed". segregation is peeking its head out again, just on the other side. make no mistake, what was done to the black community was wrong and disgusting. reversing it only helps you today. your children will get the reverse of what you reverse. until both sides just accept each other our children suffer.

Really looking at BA history in totality. I don't look at the era's of Reconstruction/Jim Crow the same. Yes those times were unfair and evil. But they were KEY in the development of black America as a people. If civil rights bills of the late 1800's worked we would of started marrying, integrating and amalgamating in white society 100yrs ago.

Many people of color today continue to be violated of the constitutional rights into the color of law do you have a deny the quality of the health services they happen to know the quality of having a great timesIt is such a tragedy that they will try to take our healthcare away from us it should not be tolerated Well I will families continue to live a life which shows that Joe Crowe continues if we can’t get the quality of services we are left out because it is you’re number one priority for people to get the services they were entitled to he should not be let down Well we need our healthcare it hurts to know they would take our freedom we can no longer live in a society with a native as Americans and African-Americans and black and brown people continue to suffer they taking our rights away from us and allowing us to lose our freedom Lisa slavery never left many of us are very aware that we continue to experience The wrongdoing of others that have something against black and brown people it is a palling to know we are still be a slave to a system I don’t understand why do they want to look at black and brown people different that I asked for Americans and people of color it should not be tolerated we want to see it the end of the day when it comes to rules and regulations and protocols it must be examined we don’t appreciate when they take out innocent love ones and put them in a system and how they make an example out of our people when you’re innocent this is what’s wrong with the world today when I try to overlook when it’s staff Americans and natives who originally from here continue to be discriminated against how they feel it’s too many of us unable do you know when the system has failed us but we can’t get services in our community because we are black and brown that is a big problem today in society and many people try to overlook it but things must change because if you can’t get your Health services because you were black and brown it is a disgrace to the human race when he lock us up well we have followed the law but the law has been different for black and brown people and I don’t take a rocket science to see many of us standing of our constitutional rights when he break up our families and we have to tell I will siblings that I will people are locked up because of their color we vote for the people and hope that people would do their job right but all people because we live in in a society where they try to not recognize when is the black and brown people who continue to fight it won’t to be treated equally there is a big problem when you can’t trust the system when you follow the law mini vote black people continue Do you know that Jim Crowe still exist if they could take away your rights for quality of life and treat others all around the world but don’t recognize when The native Afro-American speak up many people don’t want to hear us but we are standing up for what is right trying to bring the people altogether letting people know we will not tolerate the racist discrimination that has gone on for many of years we are not slaves we have people To ask to be treated equally quality of life is everything and when he take our health and lock us up we ask where is justice because when you are innocent innocent supposed to set you free not hold onto you because you were black and brown I say we have a big problem and It’s sad when they don’t want black people voices to be heard nothing will ever change until they treat the people right in society because everyone lives matter but you don’t know what it’s like to be black and be judged regarding the color of their skin how can we trust a quart if they are going to look at black people and consider us to be slaves put us away because they don’t want us to have our freedom when we follow the law we expect to get good results but this is a tragedy when he continue to allow these things to happen to our black and brown brothers and sisters it’s about unity not breaking the people out they have broken up many families and people of color or to recognize because you can be the next victim you may be judged regarding the color of your skin being black and brown and being miss treated the stand up for your constitutional rights it’s about freedom of justice no it is no justice then something is definitely wrong because nobody should be above the law but like me a victim I know what it’s like because I was told regarding the color of my skin who can you trust if the system is going to fail you because you were black and brown and decide to take your freedom for many of yearsAt the end of the day black lives do matter until you become a victim you will never know when you are judged you lose yourself you lose your family but God is at the end of the tunnel and he’s going to make change when they continue to violate our constitutional rights one was only know that it is a tragedy but God saves our lives and we think him every day when everything in the dark comes out into the light it is gods doing we will continue to fight our journey because he’s not over with yet how black and brown people are treated and how they turn a blind eye on our families at the end The day it’s about trust and where there is no trust and broken windows it is a big problem when they just black people regarding the color of their skin it is a disgrace to the human race you could never get over it when you have been missed treated by the very people you thought would do their job right but God is seeing everything and he is going to make change for those that are suffering and I can’t speak up for themselves we’re still living in slavery when they treat Asheville Americans in a disrespectful way at the end of the day it’s about dignity and respect but I want people to know it’s a slap in the face when you are native African-American and they don’t want to treat youWhat dignity equality making sure you’re treated equally it doesn’t happen when you are black you are treated the words in society and don’t let anyone tell you different you don’t know until you become a victim but at the end of the day we are tied and we can no longer live in a society where they reject the Afro-Americans and many of us to the native Afro-Americans we see that we have been served we don’t have the quality of life like others we have tried very hard but we are brokenhearted do you know that so many people have been against a native F Americans and black and brown people who should be treated with dignity and respect but no because of the racist many of us I traumatize and can’t look up to the system that would be fair it is important that we take time study what’s going on and I was society Where they try to leave I will add for American people out and treat as dirty will be standing up because there is a movement and we know that we will be in touch regarding the color of our skin how will we be able to trust the system is a system is not going to be fair to black and brown people and treat us like we are people and we have follow the law

Good question - I’m glad you asked. Jim Crow laws were laws put in place by state and local governments (throughout the United States, but mainly in southern states) to enforce racial segregation and. unjust treatment against people of color. Thanks for watching!

I am a simple person with simple world views. So while I’m trying to educate myself, and understanding who or what the Jim Crow is… I have watched several videos on this topic. It seems to be a character, to simplify a culture, and inhumane government action. But I really don’t have a clear understanding of which, except someone needs to be head accountable, and all the villains are to old to punish. I don’t believe it’s appropriately named if this is accurate. But really, what do I know. You are welcome to fill in the gaps, but as far a helter skelter is concerned, there is obvious timing with other conspiracies, that make my common sense tingle..
