I was the very first person, to enter the new section, in 1972. I could walk, to either, in 4 minutes, since I lived near Tarzanland. If you don't know what that was, then you are not from Torrance. Magic Chef, first in store full bakery, Winchells Donuts, inside, Thrifty, 5 cents, for single scoop ice cream, then, the new section, was so great. Aladdin's Castle, Wards Woolworth, so great. We found many Icee cups that people left, on benches, and simply clipped, the coupons on the cup, for free Icees

It was a great mall to grow up around. We had this one and Old Town Mall right down the road. I moved to Orange County in 1990, but we ran Wondermat kiosks here between 1992 - 1995. I don't think I've been back there since those days. This kind of makes me want to check it out on my next trip up to LAX.

My mom and I had a standing shopping date every Saturday from 1977 through 1984, when I left for college. We mostly bought at The Broadway, Robinson’s, Bullock’s, The May Co, and Orbach’s. There was a wonderful mom and pop jewelry store called Grey’s Jewelry where my mum and I would buy antique jewelry. We’d sometimes get the “shoppers special” for lunch which consisted of a salad, drink, and slice of pizza. Yum!

I was born and raised in Torrance (born in 1990 and lived there till 2018). I remember Robinson's May in the 90s, and practically grew up in that mall. What would you say are the biggest changes you've seen in the city since the 70s? Was there a greater sense of community and did everyone in town pretty much know each other? And was PV as snobby as it is now?
