Today we’re with Marc Gorelick at the 2023 NRA Annual Meeting to learn about the Virginia Gun Collectors Association display on the history of the "Jenks Mule Ear”. The Jenks Mule ear started life as a muzzleloader in the 1840s but was soon ‘updated’ into a breechloading arm with goals of being adopted by the military in the lead up to the American Civil War.

I hope you can help me with an upcoming problem. I will be receiving my Kibler WoodsRunner in a few weeks. I chose a maple stock. I see many posts where they use Aquafortis as a stain to bring out the curl. My problem is I live in Canada and have no access to Aquafortis. Would you be able to suggest an alternative for me to use that will be as good as Aquafortis?

Great question! Folks say you can soak rusty iron in vinegar for a DIY Home made recipe. aqua fortis is very similar to “iron nitrate” or “ferric nitrate”, try searching online for recipes and see how folks are getting along making their own. Those other terms might get you closer to a local source as well. Hope this helps!
