The best tv special in my opinion

Future Gohan’s death hits harder than any other in the franchise. It was brutal, in your face, detailed with the white eyes and set the tone for Trunks’ transformation. And we actually never saw him again. That’s rare in Dragon Ball.

I think the craziest part of the opening was the announcer saying " even Krillin fell" tf im surprised he was the last lmaoo

something i always liked about this special: that becoming super sayain is more emotional than just being super strong... and something i didn't realize is that they actually kept zenkai boosts in mind... imo gohan with one arm here would be able to beat them in a 1v1... even trunks said he's much stronger this time (after his zenkai boost) but still couldn't harness the pure rage to become super sayain

When Trunks traveled he opened a new timeline. This is the original timeline, this is how it happened, the original DBZ is a dark and gruesome reality.

And after all the running and hiding, living in fear, seeing his mentor and older brother figure die like that, it's no wonder that Trunks deals with the likes of Frieza with ZERO hesitation. He would never give villains the chance to cause that kind of anguish in their victims, while he has the power to stop them dead. Future Trunks is my favorite DBZ character for these reasons.

Much respect to future Gohan. He gave up everything except the hope that the world would be saved, even if he wasn't the one to do it. He fought till the bitter end, even when he was outnumbered and short an arm. He went out like a boss, and in the end, his faith was not misplaced.

In the manga it was very different 17 alone killed Gohan without difficulty and Trunks could transform before Gohan’s death Thats why I like the movie more

The Android saga movies were so insane. Between this and Super Android 13, they came out as some of the best DBZ movies.

Now you guys saw what Trunks is fighting for, because without Goku in his time both faith and hope is lost.

This movie is brutal, but so good. It really dawned on me in this movie that if Future Gohan would’ve continued to fight the Androids to a draw, those zenkai boosts would have eventually allowed him to surpass the androids at some point. Future Gohan for me, is up there with the top anime badasses along with Bardock.

Whenever I watch this episode it makes me think of the George Lucas quote, “it’s like poetry it rhymes” we already know Trunks changed history by going back. And while the outcomes aren’t the same as in his timeline, they do rhyme. It’s a long way away, but remember this episode at the end of the current story arc with regard to Gohan. It rhymes.

Trunks was literally a god send for the z fighters that changed the whole future for them, listening to his theme on the old VHS tape called heroic trunks fits perfectly, I wish it was in the show too

Goku's death (here and in the Saiyan Saga) is way more impactful if one watches DBZ as it was intended: after having watched DB first, following kid and teen Goku's life.

Crazy to think that this future timeline was meant to happen in the current timeline, meaning all of the z fighters were meant to die

I love that they got permission to use Dream Theater's music for this movie. Seeing the Androids slaughtering an entire city to "Dance of Eternity" never gets old.

History of trunks is a really great movie in my opinion and such a tragic story and super sad especially as a huge trunks fan myself included but that’s just my opinion.

As far as I know, the Dragonballs cannot be used to revive those who passed naturally and I think that because Goku passed away naturally in this timeline, he could not be wished back even if they tried to do that in between the time that Goku passed and the Androids appearing.

Keep that episode in mind, it'll be so much more satysfing once Trunks returns from the past.

The reason why they have faith in Goku is because you find out later through Vegeta that Goku is not just great at training and becoming stronger, but is actually a fighting genius. Goku understands all aspects of fighting including supreme Ki control with both power and speed in perfect balance. When Vegeta comes to understand this it really grinds him down to realize that Goku is truly a great warrior to the point that even Vegeta puts his faith in Goku's abilities over his own.

Future Gohan was nowhere near strong as anyone from the main timeline (although Future Trunks's timeline is the "true timeline", as in, it was destined to happen unless Trunks travelled back in time) because unlike in the main timeline, Future Gohan didn't have anyone else to train with, and thus, he lacked the ability to reach his full potential.

Now ask yourselves what would of happened had Trunks not joined Gohan for that fight and he was able to use the last Senzu on himself. After that power up and training Trunks some more, Gohan and Trunks may well have destroyed those Androids without going back in time. Gohan was very close to being able to beat them as shown in that last battle.

Judge me but I love Androids 17 and 18. The design, personality, story and fights that will happen later are really good, they are definitely interesting and strong villains.

the gohan in this movie was by far my favorite character and by far the OP GOATED character in this film . Trunks survived because 18 blew up everything around Trunks instead of blasting him. Trunks was screaming because he thought he was going to die while you can clearly hear Gohan dying when he was being blasted to death. They knew Trunks was no match for them so they decided to play with him instead of killing him.

The history of Trunks is, for me, the best tv special and the saddest. Mirai Gohan may be weaker than ours but he's so badass. Best entry, best fights against 17 and 18 - on 1v1 he can handle 17 - and saddest death. Remember watching this in original version, it's better and more heartbreaking. Now you understand why Trunks is no pushover

After all the hell they been through in Namek with Frieza and his forces, they finally succeeded in bringing those that perished during the Saiyan invasion back using the Dragonballs since the ones on Earth disappeared due to Picollo death only for them to suffer a deja vu again. In the beginning of the show, Goku the first one to die during the fight against Raditz, and again the first to die during this dark timeline, but this time Dragonballs won’t work when it comes to death by natural causes, than the Androids attack, Picollo dies and the Dragonballs again disappears, than the rest of the Z fighters except the ones we know. But now planet Namek no longer exist thanks to Frieza of course, and Gohan and Bulma don’t know the whereabouts of the Namekians that left Earth for another planet, and what’s more depressing about all of this is that this is the OG timeline

Trunks is the most traumatised character in DBZ. He suffered a lot. That’s why he gives no chances to his enemies, like how cut frieza in pieces. Anyways surprise will come, carry on watching and don’t forget this TV Special when the surprise happens.

Originally the android 19 and 20 were going to the villains of trunks timeline but toriyamas advisers rejected them so 17 and 18 became the villains

Funnily enough, in the manga vegeta never uses a barrage of blasts. It is only goku that does it once vs cell. In cannon that is Goku's move not Vegeta's

This movie was heartbreaking but very important. Future Gohan holds a special place in my heart. He's the weakest version of all the Gohan's but number one in my book. Even with one arm, Gohan still gave them a run of their money. He's a true warrior who went out swinging. And as you guys see, these androids are ruthless killing machines. And one thing I always wondered when trunks was literally getting they always destroyed 17 was about to deliver the final blow, but 18 is like no, I'll do it. I think that played a factor into him surviving because 18 is a little bit weaker than 17, so that might have played into it. Hearing Gohan screaming is heartbreaking 💔 hurts me so bad i can only imagine what chi-chi felt her only son gone we never saw her after that lost her husband and son.

This is the original timeline trunks messed with timelines by time traveling from future to past he gave goku medicine for heart virus and created a different timeline that we see today in which everyone is alive goku vegeta gohan piccolo trunks everyone but this is the original timeline in this special episode where everyone d¡es except for trunks now i wonder what if trunks died too in his timeline before traveling to past and creating an alternate future what if he never traveled in time and d¡ed right next to gohan. Androids can either destroy earth or other planets or they can simply rule over earth but it's no fun. I like how in alternate timeline they changed and have their own family and how they protect. Personally what i think Android 16 played a huge role in changing Android 17, he always wanted to protect animals but i don't think 16 exist in future trunks timeline 🤔

Personally I didn't like this special because it's filled with massive plot holes. 1. They could have used the Namekian Dragonballs to wish Piccolo back which would bring Kami back and thus Shenron through which they could have wished everyone back that was killed by the Androids. 2. Yes the location of New Namek was known. It was King Kai himself that found a new planet for the Namekians and therefore he knows where it is. He's also capable of telepathy and could therefore contact anyone he wanted to. 3. Goku's illness could have been wished away. Just let that one sink in.

Well in defense of the androids the Z fighters had the numbers advantage to start with so fair game if you ask me.
