@@iirovaltonen4258 For me, the problem with Chelsea is that individually, each raw gem that they splurged on could have become an Aston Villa Grealish, Leicester City Mahrez, Juventus Pogba etc, if they went to a comparatively smaller club where there are established senior players who can help guide and relieve the pressure to perform from the get go. This space to nurture is not granted at Chelsea, since they pretty much gutted their entire team since Boehly took over (bar Chilwell, Silva, and James iirc). A bit of a tall order if you ask me.

I think that's the big thing the Chelsea fan keeps missing. This isn't about the players being at fault, it's from the perspective of the club and have they done their due diligence in signing the player. Fofana had big knee issues at Leicester and Saint-Etienne, Chelsea ignored that, paid close a world record fee for a defender for him, and he's followed the pattern of huge knee injuries. It's not Fofana's fault, but it's a horrendous job from the scouting department, medical department, and the transfer negotiations. Similar stories for other big signings like Mudryk

No, the pattern is that we haven't seen the players signed later play for long enough and Spen/Buvey felt pity on you so anyone they were undecided on went to "hit", otherwise it would've been carnage. Anyone that we've seen play at Chelsea for an extended amount of time (other than Badieshelle) has been straight kaka.

@@harrybishcrewthat's based on Graham potter who had never had the experience needed to manage a top tier team before and a haphazard approach to the ownership that had never run a football team before. This season has been much better because you have a seasoned experienced coach in Pochettino who has a proven track record especially in terms of getting the best out of young players which what Chelsea have at the moment and more structure within the club in terms of transfer dealings. The signings they have done this season are levels above what they had last season. Since a lot of the signings they made were panic buys after they couldn't land their first choice targets.

Last season we had no directors in at all. Boehly had to buy players quickly before putting them in place since if he hired directors first, the transfer window would of been over. Factor in then that tuchel left who was the one who wanted the players it was a disaster waiting to happen. Now we have the directors in place along with a manager who will be here for a while

this. Anthony was an awful overpayment, yet he is heads and shoulders above Mudryk in terms of being a better signing. Similar age, but waaay more experienced in a waaay better league and actually did something this season - still labeled a flop (as he should be tbf) but it just doesn't explain Mudryk's transfer at all

Mudryk was 62m and has had half a season in an awful team not to mention the fact shaktar couldn’t play matches prior to him joining. Anthony and Nunez cost more and both came into more settled sides in good personal form. I would give them all another season, Grealish was prem proven and cost 100m and was awful his first season at city and you could still argue isn’t worth it.

Chelsea is rebuilding from scratch. City did it over 8 years. City designed a team for Pep, Chelsea is in process. This is Chelsea’s 3rd build in PL, city has done 1. Also Chelsea is changing wage model, they can no longer do the lukaku/Haaland 20mil guarantee + (rumored) 25mil bonus. They are no where near the same.

@@alwaysdapgold since 2008, City's net spend is £1.35bn, Man Utd's is £1.27bn, and Chlesea's is £1.14bn. City spent £200m to get close to the same playing field as Utd and Chelsea and then have spent the same as them since. The only real difference is City are good at spending money for longevity at the top. Chelsea are good at spending money to win something every 3/4 seasons but nothing else. And Utd need a director of football.

I get why this video was made, it'll get clicks. But, determining whether these signings are a 'hit or miss' when loads of these players were signed 5 minutes ago is absolutely absurd. Give them at least 1 season to show their worth before you determine whether they're good or not

Damn the disrespect Enzo still gets. The guys the best midfielder in league bar KDB if you actually watch him. This whole obsession with team achievements as well is worthless. Chelsea may have finished 12th but even prime Messi wouldn't have fixed that coming in midway through the season. This whole obsession with judging players on their teams performance is killing football talks and really exposes who actually watched games and who doesn't. Also this talk about money is worthless and just lazy. KDB went to city for over £50 mill which was massive money back in 2015 but no one cares now do they. If they improve the team, then they improve the team.

You are right if you were talking about last season(the past). Chelsea has continued to spend this summer but they have sold lots of players to reduce the blotted squad, and the new sporting directors have made some costly but high-quality strategic signings. Also, there is a new coach who from the beginning seems to be instilling a pattern of play. This is not the Chelsea of last season. A lot of mistakes have been corrected. This may not bring Chelsea instant success, but it will be naive to think that this season's Chelsea is the same as last season's.

The hate on mudryk is so harsh, he’s had half a season to get up to speed in a team that was in shambles… hes likely dealing with a lot of the field and hadn’t played for a few months prior to joining Chelsea. Also the 88m fee is complete nonsense he was 62m

As a Chelsea fan, I silently watch and smile regarding Mudryk. People don't know what's coming. The potential is objectively there, regardless if Bevel can see it or not. He's the fastest player in the top leagues, who's two footed (can go both ways and cross/pass both feet), highly skilled (step overs, feints, etc) aka the recipe for a defenders literal nightmare. With good direction he'll be genuine uncontainable.

Here's my thing with Mudryk, I agree he looks like he has the potential to be world class with his attributes...but so did Christian Pulisic who I absolutely adored at Dortmund, had the attributes to become world class and just wasn't. It's about having the ability to get those attributes out of these players on a regular basis at the highest level more than just if he has them to begin with.

Massive gap between the hit rate last summer with Boehly and Tuchel making decisions and January/this summer with the new directors in charge. Sterling, Koulibaly, Cucurella and Aubameyang have all been major misses, but from January on, the only questionable ones have been Mudryk and Felix. They're on the right track at this point with the only real needs moving forward being a top GK and potentially another goalscorer depending on how Jackson and Broja look this year.
