The thing with Enzo is he is an attacking midfielder. He has proven he is capable of some exquisite passes and assists, but he is rather weak defensively. With Argentina, De Paul and Paredes helped cover his weak spots and allowed Enzo to display his full powers. But Chelsea does not have any midfielders that can help Enzo and so he cannot actually play to his fullest when at the club. Scaloni and the Argentina run in Qatar are proof enough the ability and talent are there. You just need the right players and/or system to unlock that. And Chelsea does not have either.

It’s all very well looking at players individually, but as Dave alluded to, most depend on playing in certain positions or systems. You have to build the squad around a system, a philosophy, a style. And then recruit accordingly, including the manager/coach

Rory talked about how Potters appointment was supposed to bring in a new manager recruitment style into Chelsea, how they tried to go away from getting in a big name manager for 2-3 seasons and go again, and then after less than 6 months say that Potter and the new style of appointing managers has failed, it doesn’t make sense, if Chelsea truly want to try this new style of hiring managers where they look to give time then they need to not throw the toys out of the pram after 5 months. If they sack Potter now then they haven’t even tried to implement this new style of hiring managers, give Potter this season and let’s say the first 10 or so games of next season and then you can say “ We gave Potter the time and he just wasn’t good enough” if things are still crap. I think Chelsea with the player recruitment coupled with Potter as a coach can be a very good side in years to come but I don’t think the Chelsea fans will allow it to happen after how they were conditioned by the Abramovic style of hiring and firing

We only think about the players that will be playing on the pitch and this leaves us wanting when players get injured. I think we need to think more analytically and logically than think with our emotions as fans of a football club.

That is an entire starting line-up for mid-table team. That's astounding and shows their financial might and ineptitude. This is just wild to see the quality of young player who needs to be shipped because the had a pound burning a hole in their pocket.

You got 8-9 CBs in the squad (a couple talents out on loan) - wanna keep them all! Collectors FC. Wanting to build around a 38y old CB and an over-the-top CDM with injury problems. You want to play a back 5 or 6 and play attacking football... and preferably two defensive central midfielders to let the wingbacks go forward. And the current manager wants to play a possession based system - with two central midfielders and the rest either attackers or defenders. Of course that won't work so you'd want a defensive style manager to fix the goal scoring problems. 'I wanna keep Connor Gallagher..". There are 5-6 CAMs in the team, some able to play winger position but not their best position surely - Mudryk, Havertz, Mount, Felix. Gallagher not close to the level in that position, but did he even get the chance before breaking the bank? Why not buy a striker for the same money... Wanting to get rid off Havertz, him deciding the CL for them was no coincidence. One of the biggest talents from Germany, played out of position for more than a year and on zero confidence. The big issue at Chelsea is IMO partly about the very deep back line you gotta do with all their old, slow CBs, pretty similar to Manchester United with Maguire. You then need a very disciplined attacking line to keep it tight, but instead the lack of pressing and therefore stretched lines... the gaps in midfield are huge and giving the opposition a free pass into own half. One or two Chelsea players failing to do their recovery runs then the opposition can simply push a few extra men on crosses without much risk. Chelsea counter-attack is about the slowest in the league so no immediate danger.

I do not agree with the Kepa, Harvertz, Broja and Sterling assessment. Kepa and Harvertz have been one of Chelsea best players this season as a whole. Harvetz needs time and patience and the only thing that he needs to work on at the moment is his finishing. If the right coach can get to him, he could be one of the scariest players in Europe. We did this with Salah, KDB and many more, please let's not do those mistakes again. Also if Chelsea keeps Mount, Madueke and Chukwuemeka then where is Gallagher going to play. Kovacic is too inconsistent for Chelsea kinda like Jorginho which is why I was glad when Chelsea sold him. Kova could stay at Chelsea but maybe as a third or fourth option. Koulibaly is also not the worst signing of the summer, his name is Antony. If you thought Chelsea were signing a peak Koulibaly then that's your problem. We thought that he was going to be a short term fix which is why Chelsea never went off the market for a CB. I agree now that he can leave because now we have added Badiashile but he is not the worst defender in the PL. I would take him over Van Dijk rn. He is a good defender but but he is too slow for the PL and I think most of that is due to his age.
