mini review of the Hitachi electric lithium ion screwdriver....i love this thing ! it made assembling my tlr22 and d8t rc cars a breeze, i forget to mention it has spindle lock so even if you run out of battery you can still use it as a manual screwdriver
the battery packs uses samsung 18650 li-ion batteries, should you wear out the battery you could possibly put any 18650 battery in there (there is a temp probe but its seems to be separate circuit, as of the video you can get 2.6Ah 18650 batteries)
Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6-Volt 1/4-Inch Hex Drive Screwdriver is lightweight and powerful, and is perfect for tradesmen and contractors. Underneath a sink or in-between cabinets, this drill fits in most spaces and is ideal for woodworking and home improvement. The DB3DL2 Screwdriver is powered by a 1.5-amp-hour lithium-ion battery and has 3-times the battery life of traditional batteries. Dual position handle converts from straight to pistol grip for added versatility. This product features a max lock torque of 44-pounds, a spindle lock mechanism and an adjustable clutch with 21-stage torque. In cabinets or underneath sinks, the built-in LED light provides superior visibility and is perfect for unlit closets. The DB3DL2 includes (2) 1.5-amp-hour, 3.6-Volt lithium-ion batteries, a quick charger, a Phillips bit and a storage case. The Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6-Volt 1/4-Inch Hex Drive Screwdriver comes with a lifetime lithium-ion tool warranty and a 2-year lithium-ion battery warranty.

I'd pretty much settled on purchasing the Hitachi because of its balance of features and price, and this review helped firm up my decision. Thanks.

There are so many nice electric screwdrivers out there, all ruined by not having a torque setting. I will be going for this one as it does what I want for working on PCs and various other things. I don't want my screws or threads ruined :P

and i have only charged the batteries once each for all of that, the torque setting seems best if you let it drive until it starts clicking, if you stop when resistance is felt and then try to continue it will release earlier not giving you the torque you need (i think its due to the force needed to get the screw moving again, once going its easier to turn) so not really a fault of the screwdriver for the price and features i think its awesome, add that you can change the 18650 batt

Are the battery packs able to be opened to replace the 18650s? (That is without cracking the case?). I have a number of tools I take on the road that use 18650s, so since I'm already packing a bunch of 18650s and one charger, if I could avoid taking one more charger that would help with the weight.

yeah and 44 ft lbs is quite a bit, if you need more grab something like the dewalt shown in the video....the hitachi is a screwdriver and people should treat it as such i have actually given mine a drop og crazy glue on the gear selector, and just set it on low, i rarely use the high gear, as it runs out of torque fairly fast. i wonder what kind of motor is in it...battery is a 18650 so you can get some 2500mah from china real cheap, and with some simple soldering almost double battery life

Oh, I gotcha, with the handle at 90 degrees the tool will produce 44 ft lbs of torque. I would guess much more tha that would break the tool. Thanks.

yup still happy with it....use it almost everyday wiha is a bit up and down in quality imho, i have some bits that have been just awesome, and then a screwdriver kit with ball ends which has been horrible in the small hex sizes

i can update my review of it as it has seen a lot of use...actually its my go to screw driver, the only time i dont use it is in situations where i cant fit. the gear selector has gotten more loose and like to slide inbetween high and low crunching gears, so i glued it stuck at low...i got an 18v dewalt for higher speeds....so far i have taken apart and assembled 2 kids beds, put two rc cars together (a lot of screws and much care must be taken not to over torque the screws) and various other
