Head coach Lenny Wilson reacts to breaking news stating that Ryan Garcia has tested positive for banned substances on the day of and the day after his fight vs. Devin Haney.
The shocking news comes shortly after Garcia notched the biggest win of his career as he hurt and dropped Haney several times en route to a majority decision victory.
However, due to Garcia coming in 3.2lb over the contracted weight limit, he was not able to contest for Haney's title. Due to these circumstances, Haney remains the junior welterweight World Champion regardless of the loss.
Should Garcia fail to prove his innocence, then it becomes very likely for his bout vs. Haney to be ruled a no contest removing Haney's only loss from his record.
Coach Wilson currently trains Richardson Hitchins, who is one of the top contenders in the division, as well as a direct rival to Haney's championship reign. A potential fight between Haney and Richardson is still quite possible to take place.
Garcia would still be in the same mix as well unless he really can't make the weight at junior welterweight anymore as he has previously stated.
