Sampling is literally using something someone has already done.
@Sohodollie
@Sohodollie Жыл бұрын
@@madjiofcimmeria But sampling is all about transformation. It's not just taking someone else's song and putting it on your own. It's taking a slice or slices of a song and creating something entirely new, and ideally something that no else has done. I mean listen to Frank Duke's Vibez versus Drake's sampling of him, or Kanye sampling Couches. There's so much you can do that is unique and original with sampling.
@madjiofcimmeria
@madjiofcimmeria Жыл бұрын
@@Sohodollie What has that got to do with my statement. It's literally using what's already been done. How can you say "no one else is doing it"...when someone already did it. I prefer Tim Henson if your talking transformation.
@Sohodollie
@Sohodollie Жыл бұрын
@@madjiofcimmeria Except its not. It's taking something that already exists and turning it into something completely different. You can't say that a rappers' usage of the sample is what Frank Duke has "already done" because they are completely different. That's the point. It's creating something that "no one else has done" from something that already exists. If I make an entire song based on samples of me flicking a lightswitch on or the creak of opening a door, it's a completely original thing even if the sounds came from something else.
@madjiofcimmeria

@@Sohodollie Those are noises, not an actual composition of music. You just redicovered Stomp and Haloween sounds albums. Still has no bearing on my reply to the quote. In your reply you even admit your taking something that someone has already done. So your not doing something no one else is doing. Further more, you even listed other samplers as did I. When I first got into sample based production, I was rather bitter about the idea of clearance and how difficult it was to profit off of sampled music in this day and age of DMCA and social media. However, ever since I've started creating my own samples and started sampling fellow producers, I've grown an immense appreciation for the sample community which exists today out of necessity. I now have reason to compose and produce orchestral scores as well as jazz music in addition to HipHop. I can't tell you how liberating that is, and how fun it is to send a sample to someone and see them publish a beat with it the next day

It’s rare to find a professional with such a broad skill set in your field. The difficulty lies in leveraging the skills to excel in a wide range of areas. King Midas comes to mind when I think about him. He can transform any track into gold with the touch of his finger. As a music fan, his catalog remains a personal favorite irrespective of samplers. You can find easy samples in his collection. Apart from that, he rarely gets noticed, even though his considerable talent goes beyond belief for me. Frank, you inspire me daily, but mostly, stay the course, Frank.

The process of making/producing music is so fascinating and it is amazing to see how it comes together from the ideas to the finished songs that we love and enjoy. I am a chef and I feel like creating music and sampling is comparable to creating new dishes and recipes. Much love and respect to the producers, artists, creators etc.

This guy here is the person that inspired me to create beats/sounds! When i was child i would play the trumpet with my grandpa, he played a in a Czech band(Jodie Mikula Orchestra), I then transitioned into other genres of music. Like learning to play rock and roll, playing the drums in a different manner and learning the electric guitar a bit! Then I heard a few rap songs, and i wanted to know who was behind the scenes of the creation of sounds i would hear. My imagionation sparks from him and a few others. I write a little bit of lyrics, but mainly just create the ideas of beats that linger in my brain. I listen to the trends, but i mainly create things I genuinely feel sounds good, not everything you make will be banger to people now, but you never know what time will do with your work, your ideas.

A lot of these producers are unsung hero’s man they should get more recognition for their work and treated better in the industry. That’s why there is something special about a producer/rapper.
