About Video Game Sophistry:
Video Game Sophistry is an opportunity to celebrate the creators and the artistry found in Video Games. I believe that Games are the most effective medium from experiencing another world, and another way to live. Expect to see a series of videos showcasing the narratives hidden in every game, interviews with game developers, along with our bench mark weekly podcast, Dialogue Wheel.
Andy Borkowski started this program nearly 10 years ago and, in that time, it has changed from a simple KZfaq show, to a radio show, a TV show and now once again a KZfaq destination. Welcome to VGS.

Everyone here is calling Diana’s move a betrayal, but in the game you realize that she actually made a super calculated move. She knows the 47 didn’t choose who he killed before joining the ICA, and that he doesn’t have a conscience of his own. She’d already forgiven him when she delivered him into Edwards’ hands, so he could kill the last obstacle standing between her and dismantling Providence entirely.

It's here where we get a much desired look into the psyche of agent 47. These kind of head trips are nothing new, especially to those familiar with Inception, the scarecrow encounters in the Arkham trilogy and hell even the recent Spiderman PS4 game. Agent 47 has only recently reclaimed the humanity they purged from him, the toxin in his vein has a lot to play with. Does he feel remorse for those he killed? The crowd around him were by and large people who had it coming, but then what does that say about him? Is he human or just a tool, and it's that question that's the core of his turmoil. Diana is the longest human connection he's ever had and he's afraid she has turned on him, but he's not an idiot. He knows she's clever but more than that he knows she's noble, and this knowledge manifests through his sixth brother, dear Lucas Grey. Having to own his past and face the moment that could ruin his only human connection, it's almost like baptism by fire only it's starting with a bang. When 47 wakes up on that train he's in possession of all of his humanity and all of his free will, which is terrible news for the Constant.

47 isn't brainwashed nor dead inside. He is very human, especially if you played previous games. He tried to save the priest, took care of Victoria and didn't head shot diana on purpose, he remembered and cared about Grey and the pact they made when they were children. He completed that pack, and after Diana destroyed providence, he contacted her a year after. That doesn't seem brainwashed dead inside to me.

The ghosts all try to kill you and depending on what you did to them they'll look different. Like if you executed a guy with a throat slice his head will flop around while he's chasing you. What's funny is that if you haven't killed anyone it's just a long walk up a creepy stream and the Sorrow floating above your head.

@@SuperAerie Well, in the same mission, Diana mentions that Dexter was 'alternate universe'. Fun way of developers announcing absolution as non canon. Interestingly, Dom Osmond was killed in the Legacy cutscene by an ICA weapon with 47's signature insignia, but in Absolution 47 had no weapons of his own on him after he gave birdie his Silverballers. Also, 47 is wearing his signature suit in the Legacy cutscene instead of the tattered 'Terminus' suit in Absolution. If you look closely, the area around his neck isn't bandaged or showing any signs of bleeding as when he cut the barcode off in Absolution. And lastly, Victoria is never mentioned again, not even as an Easter egg. Well, the entire game is never mentioned again. Therefore it is safe to say, Dom Osmond was just a regular contact in the new continuity, making Absolution non-canon.

Lucas Grey could survive Lucas shot himself under the chin, the gun was a military grade high velocity pistol, the bullet would have gone through his head in a vertical straight line, the bullet would have gone through his prefrontal lobe either through the left, right or middle of the prefrontal lobe either way in all options the damage to the brain would be minimal. The brain stem would have been safe from the bullet due to Grey having the pistols barrel pointed at the very front of the brian (brain stem including) the midbrain, the pons, and the medulla. It controls fundamental body functions such as breathing, eye movements, blood pressure, heartbeat, and swallowing. His previous gun shot wounds appeared to have missed any vital blood vessel and arteries otherwise he would have bleed out quickly unable to fight let alone break a man's arm. Greys body could survive for a few hours without medical attention. It must have taken the CICADA soldiers and 47 a little less then an hour or a little more to fully leave the area. Meaning not a lot of time would have passed, giving time for explores or villagers around Dartmoor. Devon Dartmoor England in 2020 would have a handful of villages, explores who would run into Grey and provide medical attention with the numerous hospitals around Dartmoor. And besides Lucas Grey is too much of a interesting character to just kill off only after 2 full games with him. Plus they cut away. Spread the message IOI must hear us

@@frozenwolfenix4789 In the last mission in Romania on the Train, the same group of CICADA soldiers who ambushed Grey in the Woods can be seen guarding the upper railcars(they are all wearing heavy body Armor with double head lights, close to there commader who wears a cap). If you wait before you kill them all you can hear them talk about the event in the woods. One of them talks about how he is embarrassed about his arm getting hurt by Lucas. But no where do they ever mention shooting Lucas body repeatedly after his self inflicted gun shot wound. In fact they only mention wanting to beat 47 before his mind would be wiped sense they knew he and Grey where friends.

Only thing I'd want is seeing some targets from previous games. It'd just be cool to see WoA versions of guys like Vinnie or Campbell Sturrock... though it also would have been a lot of time and effort for something so small so it's fair that they didn't.

My only nitpick is that maybe they could have included a few other targets from the games outside the trilogy. I get with game development and budgets being what they are, that's never always in the cards.

But that wouldn't of made sense anyway, from a storytelling perspective. This trilogy is it's own separate universe from the older games..
@banzaiperson
@banzaiperson 3 жыл бұрын
@@alwaysOPEN4business I totally understand where you’re coming from on that. My counter argument is that the trilogy makes frequent references to Ortmeier, and is he not a target from the older games? 47 and Grey are both defined by the fact that they are clones who have made it their mission to destroy Providence and those who had a hand in their creation. But I do agree that I should have interpreted it as a self-contained story. I dunno, maybe I’m just someone who would’ve liked a nod to the older contracts. If not this, it could have been neat to see someone like Lorne de Havilland or Daniel Morris in the contracts 47 deletes. But by that same metric, a target like Havilland represents a seedier past in Hitman I wouldn’t fault IO for wanting to forget. So I understand why the older targets weren’t an option.

Diana gave him a neurotoxin, so he could come near the constant (this cutscene is set right before you wake up on the train to Romania). Since Diana didn't warned him and he felt guilt for kiing her parents, there are these flashbacks of him you can see here. He's fighting with himself, trying to come over what happened in the past and finally wake up. Diana never betrayed 47, but used the same tactic as in Blood Money: Make him unconscious, to come near an important target.
