A recent report by Tripura State AIDS Control Society pointed out that over 800 students have been infected with HIV and 47 of them have lost their lives due to the deadly disease. However, the government later clarified that the figure is recorded over 17 years. The state has been grappling with HIV infections, fueled by injectable drug usage, for several years now and reportedly records more than 1,500 cases each year
