Imagine a prison sending 250 prison officers to court each day , let alone the ones that were needed to stay in the prison to work. Must have been why in the 1990s, private companies were brought in to do the court escorts. There wasn’t enough prison staff.

Thank you, I couldn't agree more! No-one ever remembers the innocent victim's name or the brutal crimes committed by these vile felons..All we ever hear about is the 'poor' prisoner..They never talk about their offences, but will always whine on camera about their lack of creature comforts, awful food, no rights, time in cells, bad prison officers, ad nauseum..The most ironic jokers, were the men who said they missed their families, because they were serving long sentences for serious crimes.? They obviously didn't think about their families, when breaking the law..What about victim's family, who will never get to see their loved one again.? These monsters (who've never contributed anything to society), eventually get released - unfortunately..

I was in Brixton in 83, Tbh it was a good crack.Worst thing was if you came in on a Friday all the cells would be full so you'd end up on F Wing (Fraggle rock) where you have a weekend surround by screamers and loonies. But Monday you'd be moved to normal location. Plus they done Sunblest bread all the London jails had bread they baked and it was shit. Those were the days of proper prisons, more loyalty among cons, far less violence than today. Then I got sent to Wansworth because of my sentence length and that was when it was all single cells and the screws ruled the place. Horrible prison.

If you don't act like a big man and act okay towards people then its not so bad and you meet some good lads and can have a laugh if you just be yourself. Nobody likes bullies and the con jails don't really have bullying that I saw, I'm sure yp jails are much worse for bullies but you'd just have to stand up for yourself I'd rather have to fight and get punched a few times than keep getting bullied.
