The archaeological battle to preserve an 18th-century Royal Navy shipwreck has been the subject of a recent exhibition.
At ‘Diving Deep’ in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard, the story of HMS Invincible explores the excavation project to save what had been the fastest warship in the naval fleet.
The 74-gun, French-built ship was seized in battle by the British and went on to "run rings" around larger, less agile vessels.
We went to look at the exhibition earlier in the year.

HMS Invincible, what!! "She had no brakes" how on earth did she survive without having any (breaks) for a cup of tea and a biscuit?

Apparently my ancestor was on this ship as a boy, Thomas heddington, later became a commander then finished his career on half pay at hawksley point signal station. Don't know if it's the same thomas heddington who was a landscape artist on the sister ship to captain Cook. Did much drawing of native Americans etc and coast lines
