I searched my house and found hmt smitha, black dial, gold finish and gold case. I think it is 1972 or similar model.

Hello! I was hoping you can help me out. I have the silver version of this watch (SASL-01) and have a quick question. On the back of my watch the number I see is “8N24-0118”. Does that mean this watch was manufactured in January of 2018? If so, does that seem valid? I thought the company, HMT, shut down in 2016. Can you please help me identify if I have a fake? Thank you!

8N24 is automatic movement in the watch. 01 means made in Bangalore factory 1, 18 is year of manufacture 2018

It's mostly the same inventory.

Do they still sell watches? Not in the website, most of the models are not available. So will I get pilot from the shop directly.

The Collection available at the souvenir shop and the one available on their website is more or less the same. HMT has released newer version of pilot watches for which the stock keeps getting updated. The classic black pilot in my opinion will not be back soon unless they find a leftover stock in one of their boxes.

These are not named after designers. They made it after popular Indian names. Some were also named after there employees like HMT Sandeep
