Grandfather Nurgle gives a thumbs up to this video. This channel encourages experimentation, today in Madrid I passed a Molotow shop and bought so many Acrylic paints (they have good paint range for Slaanesh minis) , they're a German brand and their paints are refills for their "ink" pens to they must be reasonably thin / liquid . When I get around to it in the far future I will post the results on the forums.

@@charlesfe In the Molotow shop they had loads of different products, I noticed lots of acrylic spray cans everywhere, the other interesting thing is that they had a little workshop with little kids painting and stuff in the shop with a teacher. They of course do "ink" pens for the acrylic paints that I bought but I did notice that the nib size didn't go down to the size of say that the Rotring architect ink pens go down to.I use Rotring ink pens with Daler & Rowney FW Artists Acrylic Inks to paint white eyeballs on minis and their iris (pens give great control for doing this).

I've used architect pens with black ink to dot my eyes on 28mm and put in black eyes on 15mm but this is the first I've heard of pens with no ink that I could fill myself [I suppose it makes sense, just never crossed my mind]. I'll have to find them. I am a big D&R ink fan thanks to Vince.

On a terrain piece, or a larger base, I bet you could mix this technique with your cork lava basing technique, painting a bubbled puddle or pond in lava colors, and get a very nice pool of molten lava surrounded by "lava rock". You might try it & show us if you agree, Vince!😍🔥🔥🔥😍

Great tutorial as always. Short question regarding the pigment use, because I want to try pigments in the future. When you fix them with the Agrax, won't you drag them all over the rock while putting on the agrax or will they mostly stay where you placed them?
@VinceVenturella
@VinceVenturella 5 жыл бұрын
They will mostly stay where you place them. The key is to brush away the excess. When you place the pigment dry, you push it in and brush away the rest. The wash will then seal it up (basically any medium will seal it). You may get a little blending, but it can actually be beneficial to smooth it all out.
@naphaneal
@naphaneal 5 жыл бұрын
adhesion was correct, as you have two unlike bodies which stick together: the base and the liquid. the liquid stays on the base because of friction, electrons attracting each other, and so on. cohesion exists between molecules of the same substance, i.e. the molecules in the liquid are cohesive.

Excellent, it's a thing that I learned in the past but never seems to stick in my head correctly. :)

Question: So for my Khorne army, this sounds interesting, except swap the green with a red. I was already thinking about doing this with 'Blood for the Blood God', ala GW's video on the method. Is there a better way to make that effect pop? So what i'm talking about, is doing 'rivers of blood' in my bases.
@VinceVenturella
@VinceVenturella 5 жыл бұрын
Yep, so I can share on that, I have done rivers of blood before. So my advice is this. Lay down an undershade on the edges with a deep purple. Lay down abase undershade of a magenta or crimson. Then paint the bubbles pink. Then use some realistic water mixed with crimson or magenta and do a thin pour over everything. Then when you are done, lay down a thin layer of blood for the blood god on top. It will create the depth and shading and the pink will turn red but appear to be more "transparent."

@VinceVenturella
@VinceVenturella 5 жыл бұрын
I will see what I can do. If I recorded the whole process for painting a miniature, it would be about 40-80 hours long, so I would have to do it at like 8x speed and narrate. The most challenging part is I don't paint in a position that would be easy to record on camera (I tend to paint in my lap) :)

I was thinking about doing something similar but in purple to represent Shyish (I don't know if Shyish has purple bubbling ooze but who cares). I have three questions given the models in question are Grimghast Reapers painted essential in the same color scheme as Mengel (see Carin Wraith). 1 - Would that really light ghostly teal contrast well with a purple (I realize they're not diametrically opposed on color wheel)? 2 - Out of the Fantasy range of Scale 75 which purples would you recommend? 3 - If none of this sounds like a good idea, what would you recommend for basing color/material wise given the color scheme of the mini. Thank you.
@VinceVenturella
@VinceVenturella 5 жыл бұрын
1. Yep, purple and teal always look great together for the most part. 2. Elendil Violet (I think that's what it's called, it's from the elven colors set) - that's your good low tone. Very thin over white could be your high tone. 3. I think this all sounds like a good idea and purple gloop would fit Shyish perfectly.
