My goal is to record something! I’ve had motivational issues painting alone let alone getting this channel started.

Vince, your words about pushing yourself and setting new challenges reminded me of a great quote by David Bowie: "If you feel safe in the area you’re working in, you’re not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you’re capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don’t feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you’re just about in the right place to do something exciting."

Man, most of these photos of your minis look like photos of real things and only the sculpting reveals that it's a, um, sculpture. You're really excellent with painting light.

Painting competitions (those that crown a "winner", not those that judge you individually) are totally bunk, subjective, and unfounded. I hope you don't let that get you down as you've inspired hundreds of thousands of painters to push their art and continue their painting journeys.

As I basically started in early October, I didn't have reals goals for 2024. My mini painting goals for 2024 are: 1)to get to a level beyond "Battle Ready" or basic speedpaints 2)Learn and apply skill like stippling, layering, glazing, etc 3) get an airbrush 4) Finish my first 2k points of my first 40k army (is Tyranids)

I name my New Years lists as ' What I was to achieve in upcoming year'. This way i set goals, but also allow wiggle room for uncertainties of life.

I also alternate between speed painting, and serious painting. For every serious painting piece, I try to do something new. The other day I just tried black NMM on a whim. It looks janky as hell but I'm glad I got to do it. I want to watch more Hobby Cheating videos, so I can learn and try out those techniques.

Excellent video. 'Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is tomorrow'. With some help from utubers like yourself, 2023 was the year I bought an airbrush and managed to use it properly. I've moved from 'everybody has a helmet on', to 'let's give the boss a face, that's the fun bit'. 2024 is the year I practice more with the airbrush and small details. I've even nearly got an actual army painted. My new rule is that if it isn't painted, it doesn't get on the battlefield. (Horus Heresy Ultramarines). P. S. Your video on airbrush/dilution/mediums was superb.

My goals are: learn to slow down, to complete the miniatures I have started painting, to learn one advanced technique, and refine the techniques I am no longer a novice in. The two biggest for me are slowing down and finishing the models I have started painting. One of my big issues as a painter is that I am very impatient; I tend to rush when painting and that leads to not painting as well I as I could and rushing techniques, like creating smooth blends/gradients, that require patience to do well. On top of that, I want to spend time throughout the year completing the myraid models I have started but have been left half or partially painted. I find that I am very particular when it comes to finding the *right* tone for schemes for, say, my Salamanders and I have left them unfinished because I can't quite grasp the sort of olive green I want. The other two are rather self-explanatory, but the advanced technique I hope to practice more is NMM. I hope I can get a better understanding of how to place light and choosing the right colors for each metal I aim to paint. I've already started on my first attempt and I am learning a great deal from it. But enough about all that; I hope you have a great year Vince and I look forward to all the videos to come!

I love you, Vince. While I don't have any interest in Skaven for myself, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and all the other stinky, long tailed, pink nose lovers like you. Painters keep getting better and you're gonna have to keep pushing yourself. I see winning pieces every time I look at your work, but damn if other people aren't pushing just as hard and finding things that keep opening up the hobby even more for the rest of us. Keep strong.

2023 was a slow year for me, I made alot of progress on a few large pieces, but I haven't finished anything aside from a few small models. I placed very well in competition but mostly with pieces I completed earlier. My goals for this year are to finish more projects then I start, push myself to find more time for painting and try to go for higher quality paint jobs and lastly I wanna try my first shot in competing at the masters level in competition, were previously I have only ever entered standard for the 2 years that I have been in competition painting. Having won 3 silvers and 2 gold gives me the motevation to try and measure up to challenge.

The playing more games part is very true, there is a certain magic to this hobby. Hell I've made more friends in my late 30s than I ever thought possible at this stage of life and it's all thanks to miniature wargaming, truly a brilliant past time, especially in a world dominated by digital screens and video games. My goal is to actually see other people’s work in person. My hobby so far has just been KZfaq and me because I don’t know anyone else that’s into this hobby. So I think what I need is to find a competition in Michigan, go to it, and look at the entries nice and up close. I suspect it will answer a lot of questions I’ve had over the last couple of years.

My goal is to get more peripheral projects done or underway. I'm changing my hobby workflow from Kanban to monthly sprints, where each month I switch projects. Therefore rather than never getting prioritised, they get dedicated months. Also, by time boxing it will focus my mind on "getting it done". Well until we get new rats...then just throw me in the rat pit baby!

My biggest goal is just doing a little something to keep painting my minis every day. Some form of progress, I have to work a lot right now and when I halt progress I get on a streak of not painting all my other responsibilities/obligations stack up taking away hobby time. Hoping to get a little bit more Star Wars legion games in as well, which I luckily have a really nice community at my LGS. Oh also, to finally use an airbrush as I’ve fallen more in love with this hobby.

Vince, I'm sure for you that there are days where you wake up and feel like the least special person, but that's because you're more than that. I know you're just another person that puts their socks on the same way like everyone else, but what you share with the world is truly invaluable. Every Saturday I look forward to seeing what new content you're going to share. Every Wednesday I look forward seeing you talk about a game I'm probably never going to play. Allright, my goals for this year: Really hyped about The Old World, so I will deepdive straight into it and try to paint atleast 100minis from my backlog at tabletop standard and get alot of games. Haven't been in this hobbymode for years! I also have alot of Kimeramodels coming in, so I will also aim to paint atleast 2 of these 75mm models to display quality (first non GW models aswell) and 1 model with ambient light. Thank you for all the energy you put into this and share with us. Through your channel I've found an entire new world to me outside of the GW sphere (techniques, paints, tools, other artists etc) and I will forever be gratefull for that.

My hobby goal is the same hobby goal I always have: keep hobbying. The way my ASD tends to manifest, I have a difficult time keeping myself motivated if I feel like the hobby is becoming a chore. Continuing to figure out how I can overcome my brain's own braining is very important.

I feel you about the 90s Skaven. I had just bought the new Skaven Armies book in 96/97and got into a fender bender because I was reading it at a red light just outside the game store. It really was something else.

Rebuild and restart. The workspace is going through its rebuilding and reorganization. Back to basics. Like everyone else life happened over the previous few years and interrupted the whole process. I haven't painted a lot over that time so it's back to basics. This time though it's about building an understanding that I haven't invested much in before.

My first goal is to try new things, the small things. Mixing paints to get what I want is my first step, just worry less about reproducing the result since I do so little army painting anyway. And the next is to paint 52 units. I mostly play skirmish games so often 1 unit is 1 model. :) And play through Majestic 13, I got the cards right before Christmas so I’m ready to go now.

I am looking forward to another excellent year of painting :) can't wait to see what is on the horizon, especially your new army!

Happy New Year! I really like the idea of goal settings vs resolutions. One of my main goals is to finally finish painting Oathsworn, so my son and I can get it to the table. Another big one is to finish getting my hobby space setup, so that my son andni can paint together more regularly, and so I can more easily incorporate air brush work into the general flow. I also want to finally paint one of my GW minis. I've always felt like I'm not ready, or it won't be good enough, but I need to shake that and just do it. Hobby Cheating is one of the first things I watch Saturday mornings. Thank you for always being such a positive force in the hobby.

Okay Vince, I haven’t really thought in terms of my goals for the hobby. Wow, now I have to think 🤔. Honestly, I guess my main goal is just to continue to watch you, and other creators and basically stay in school. My painting is head and shoulders above where it was when I got back in. I guess I dropped out in 2010(?) and came back with Kill Team’21. Back in my first run, 2000 - 2010, all I did was put paint on models to get them on the table. Plastics were primed and painted on the sprue. Now I’m taking each model as a project in itself and the goal is to paint that one model well rather than get a box done ASAP.

My no.1 goal is absolutely to finally paint my skaven to a level that im happy. If it means that its not done until christmas so be it lol. Starting out with the newest models (Deathmaster, bombardier, end times models). That should take me to june/july when 4.0 launches and i can see what chaff /new stuff launches. Secondly is to play games (not more, flat out some). I finish my masters in may so ill finally have the free time to play the game i love to follow.

My goals are get the kill team starter set painted and learn how to play, paint more marvel crisis protocol minis, paint more stuff for frostgrave, and get stuff to the table

My goal this year is to enter a major painting competition at one of the big US conventions for the first time. I've been having a good time with local competitions and want to really push out of my comfort zone.

My wife challenged me last xmas with the New Seraphon Battleforce. My goal... although I never thought I cpuld even begin to paint it... is to bring it to a Level that I can be proud of. Already finished the Slann. I am confident now. Here we go!🎉

You have at a minimum 122k people who validate your work, your models are fantastic and your teaching far exceeds most others. I'm sure it's just a random blip and you'll bounce back. Keep up the great work, it's refreshing to see a content creator being so introspective.

I"ve noticed an uptick in an already great work you do too. My goal for this year is too paint more and stick to painting a little bit every night or at least most nights a week.

I really hoped you'd say SMC instead of Monte. I hope I'll see you there sometimes in the future. After painting with Scale 75 for many years I finally bought the Jose Davinci Set from AK 3rd gen and looking forward trying these new paints. And I bought the Speedpaints you mentioned in your skin video. A big project will still be my Day Of The Tentacle diorama. I finnished building it after 81 hours. This year I'll paint it to the best I can. And after winning my first gold medals in standard, I'll push myself further to fit into the masters category. Thanks for all the great content!

My goal is to paint 75% of my pile of shame (particularly finishing my Malifaux crew & sisters army), I also have a 75mm mini that I want to try & do my best work on. Just need to find the motivation which I haven’t had for a couple of months now. Oh want to paint a 15mm Flames of war army this year too.

I started painting all the Dungeons and Dragons chromatic dragons in 2023. My goal is to wrap them up this year. I have Blue and White left to do that are part of the 5th edition. I might move to some older edition dragons but I am not sure. I hope to also find and get my Wood Elf Army repainted for Old World

It's the year of the study. All the gurney and jones books are fresh on the desk.

My hobby goal is to finish painting what I am missing for a viable 1000p list of my Slaves to Darkness (which is just 5 chaos knights, corvus cabal and an endless spell - optional extra a daemon prince and chaos spawn for Eye of the Gods shenanigans) and potentially play at least one game with them. 2024 is, however, a year where I will focus more on other hobbies, getting back into (video) game development and running some RPG adventures for my friends, so painting is unfortunately going to have to take a bit of a back seat for now.

I've painted the entirety of the Marvel Crisis Protocol line, but I want to dip into some other projects, like some armies for Saga. Or mayyyybbbeeee Space Station Zero.

2023 I barely did any painting and even less gaming. Old world coming back out I have had more hobby progress in the past couple days than I have all of last year.

Great video which makes me excited for this year of the Horned Rat. I look forward to your display painting videos. One of my intentions for the year is to give myself opportunities to be deliberate with my brush and I have a couple of larger models lined up to do that with. My current goal is to finish constructing and then paint, without overthinking either, a 2k skaven AoS army and play with it before the new edition. Then new rats will perhaps shape further goals?

It is nice to see you taking your own advice and just judging your work against your own previous work rather than others. My goal is to figure out airbrushing after many years of not getting things painted. I got a quiet masters compressor and a Procon PS289 recommended by one of your viewers in the comments of another video.
